Default adjusting (or turning off) 96 security system?

I have a 96 annd my security system is in the back panel wheny you open the hatch and it has settings where i can adjust the sensitiveness of the alarm. anyways 2nd night of winter and my driver door froze up. soon as i open the passenger with my key the alarm goes off and i know neighbors don't want to hear that everyday. So will there be any consequeneces if i unplug the security system?? LET ME KNOW. i have to drive this for a bit til i get a beater so i'm going to need this car to drive. RESPONSES QUICK PLEASE

all i need to know is if it's ok to unplug the factory security system> PLEASE SOMEONE!
