Default Problems with Monsoon 10 Speaker System in '97 TA

I have a 1997 Trans Am with the 500 watt Monsoon 10-speaker system with CD changer in the rear. A few of my speakers aren't playing and I think it's either a bad connection from the amp or a bad ground. Where is the amp located and what are the steps to getting to it? Thanks everyone. Also, where can I get replacement tweeters (besides the dealership)?

Use your balance and fader controls to check each corner. If you can hear all 4 woofers, It's not likely that there is anything wrong your amplifer.

Monsoon speakers are notorious for blow outs. I've lost one door and at least one sail speaker (not quite sure if the other works all that well). And mine aren't 7 years old like yours are (assuming your '97 has original speakers).

That's an under statement.

The amp is about a foot forward of the spare tire. Small *** black box a little larger than your hand. And don't replace anything stock with more stock. They really are crappy. Check out the stickies at the top of this forum to find out how to easily replace the stock speakers with aftermarket and still have them powered off the Monsoon amp. Cheap and easy way to upgrade.

the speakers aren't blown, and yes... i have used my fader and balance controls. to be precise, the two rear speakers don't work because the single ground for them is bad. i just need to know how to get to the amp. is it behind the rear sear side panel? do i try and get through from the spare tire area?
