Question gauges question

ok guys i have a prob i do not drive my car everyday it has been like 2 weeks since i drove it (99 Z28) i get in it and start it up all my gauge needles go all the way and come back down and my trip resets automatically everytime i start the car up has anyone ever had this happen i talked to a gm mech. and he said that the gauge cluster is going out or some body control mod. if anyone has any ideas can you help me out thanks

Ive seen a lot of people that this has happened to. Ends up being a bad battery. I would check that before you buy a new cluster!!

i have a optima yellow top battery and it is only like 2 years old i will check it but the car does not crank slow or anything i wonder i have started it just to back out of the garage and pulled back in without letting it run and i have an asp pulley on it

Ive had this happen but it started when i got cold outside...other than that its fine...
