In dash TV/DVD question (brake bypass)
Anyone know how to bypass the parking brake wire on a Jensen VM9311? Ive tried grounding it, ive tried the toggle switch method. The switch works but sometimes you may have to flip it 20-30 times before it will come on and other times flip it twice and it comes on. I thought about trying to wire a capacitor to it, so see if will pulse and fast enough to where the DVD player would read it and cut on. Im open to any suggestions so lets hear them!

im not too familiar with the jenson set up, post up EXACTLY what the install instructions say regarding the ebrake set up.
either that, or just take a pic of the manual, and post it here. I can probably help you that way.
btw, watching DVD's while driving is stupid.......

i have the exact same model. the player needs a "brake sequence" basically, you wire a toggle from the pink wire to a ground. then when you turn on the dvd make sure it's in the off position, wait a few seconds. then turn it on. it requires this specific sequence to work. if you toggle it fast, it wont work. there's a slight time delay. read through the manual again on the brake sequence, you'll see what i'm talking about. mine works perfectly.

While I don't know anything about your model, all the installers that I have seen just install a relay to complete the ground circuit whenever the key is on. FWIW. (no toggle)

I have the same model. i did the toggle switch. you have to. you cant just complete the circuit on this model. it has to follow a "brake sequence" in other words. you turn on the car. turn on the dvd. if the Pbrake is on, turn it off, then put it on again. or if the P brake is off, then put it on. then it will read. there's gotta be a small time delay inorder for it to work. it took me a few hours to figure it out.
i tried just "grounding it out" but that only worked once it had that slight time delay. once i turned off the car, and tried turning it back on, the dvd would go to the same blue screen saying "brake sequence"
AGAIN, THIS IS FOR THE JENSEN MODEL. i'm not sure about the others.

i had a jensen and now a pioneer. on the jensen,to jump the safety mode you had to add a switch and turn the power on to make the the tv play video. the pioneers are different, they work off a negative source so the wiring on your toggle switch needs to be opposite

Sorry it took so long to get back, Ive been out of town. Ive already had it working, it was just a PITA to do each time you get in and out of the car. Like mentioned above it requires a brake sequence, but with the switch sometimes it take two or three clicks other times it may take 20 clicks.
BTW- I dont want to watch DVD's going down the road, but other people in my truck may!
