Default HELP!!!! Is this a big problem or not?

Ok, I think I've got a big electrical problem coming . . . or maybe not. But here's the deal. Lately, when I turn on my car, my clock display (factory monsoon) is all funked up. It's only showing part of the numbers, or none at all. Then it take a while to come up. Usually if I turn it on and off a couple of times, it'll work. A couple of times I've hit the top of the dash and it comes up. But then I feel bad because I just abused my baby.
So, whatcha think? Wiring? Texas heat? (that's when it started - but it's in the 80s now and still doing it) or what? But I'm seriously wigging out about it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I have the same problem. Mine typically occurs when the temperature inside the car is high from sitting out in the Michigan sun (if there is such a thing). Not sure if the problem is serious or not.

Swap head units with somebody real quick to see if its just that. I guaruntee there are TONS of monsoon pontiac head units laying around in the DFW area that locals would be willing to part with cheaply.

its the deck 99% sure.

My stock deck did that a little the first day i brought her home (used, 98 w/ 30K)

I dont know if it would have continued, i swaped to an aftermarket deck before all the paperwork was finished on the car.

Mine did that too. One time it was working fine, then all of a sudden odd characters were on the display, but no interruption of the sound. I got mine replaced under warranty. You may want to try the dealer. Even if its not under warranty anymore, there might be a TSB on it.

Mine does it if the car sits out in the sun and it gets hot inside. Never seem to cause a problem with anything else.
