Default Aftermarket CD Player ?'s

A buddy of mine told me that if I get an aftermarket CD player that my steering wheel controls won't work. Is this true? He also said that the factory monsoon speakers are designed to work with the factory head unit and will make the speakers sound like crap. Is any of this true?

Dude do a quick search of the site you'll find the info you need. My advice is don't always listen to your friends they will mislead you. On both parts he is partly wrong and right.

If you get an aftermaket radio your steering whell control's wont work unless you get an adapter harness for them(which can be bought through where you got the radio) and the stock Monsoon speakers work in my car with my Alpine and have no problems with the way they sound.

I have an alpine that both fits the large opening and works with the steering wheel controls. Alpine claims it doesn't need an adapter to work but the installer told me it needed one to work right anyways. The only thing that doesn't work is that it won't switch to the radio from the steering wheel controls. Other than that, it's exactly the same. As far as the speakers go, I don't know because I replaced them at the same time.

the link in the above post if the PACSWI-x, i bought my SWI-2 from them before they came out with the -X, It was the best $$ i ever spent. Great service, fast shiping, and great prices.

If you want to read a funny story, here's how i found out about that site. I had a 92 bonneville, and nobody does anythign with those cars, i wanted to keep my steering wheel controls, so i searched the web, and after riding in a freinds TA, he had the same steering wheel. So i joined ls1.com (his car was a LT1, but i did notknow much about f-bodys at the time) Finally found info there on how to keep the controls, bought the part, and eventually bought a LS1 partly becasue of that site.

Most expensive stereo project ever but lots more fun than a bonneville

Ryan.
