I am thinking of covering my entire interior with a sound deadener when my roll bar goes in. I want to reduce interior noise significantly. Weight is a concern also.

What is the best and lightest sound deadener out there? Dynamatt, Brown Bread, etc. Those who have it did it noticeable reduce interior noise?

How many sq/ft do I need to do the floor?

I just did this to my car and cut the noise in half, LITERALLY! Go to HomeDepot or Lowes and pick up 5 (I only used 4) of these:

SKU on it is: 28929 at Lowes. Each roll only weighs ~3lbs. I did the entire flooring and back of the car. I didn't do the doors but let me tell you, it is a HUGE difference! I can barely hear my gear whine now and before I could barely hold a conversation. I only used 4 rolls but allow yourself 5 in case there are other areas you want to do.

Does that have an adhesive on the back of it? I have Dynamat in my trunk and trunk lid for my subwoofers, which has adhesive on the back, but at $100 a pack it's not exactly cheap. And I would like to do the whole car.

Thanks Levi. Thats what I am wanting to get rid of, gear whine and exhaust noise, and as a side bonus make my stereo sound better. That stuff is twice as thick as Brown Bread but I wonder how it compares as an absorber/dampner. B quiet recommends there brown bread deadener + their Vcomp sound barrier. That would come out to ~1.4lbs per sq/ft.

Yeah, it's self adhesive, goes on real nice <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> . Jsears, I even stuffed a bit of R-13 fiberglass insulation behind the sail panel speaker (it's a HUGE hole back there with no dampening material). Now I have ZERO pingy noise **** from gravels hitting the rear tire well <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

i was thinking along those lines to(insulation)i work construction and i got a 4'x40' roll of it.my concern is moisture.once it gets wet the silver vapor barrier is not going to let it dry to easily.even if you put it vabor down any moisture underneath it would be trapped.i guess dynamatt wouldnt be to different. it may be self adhering but moisture or water(rainy days) will still find its way in. to who ever said they used this...did you remove the oem sounddeadner or just added the insulation with it? thanks

oh buy the way....dont buy at lowes...when they build their stores they used out of state labor...meaning when the store in your area was built the workers came from somewhere else....lowes is notorious for this...thats just my 2 cents im not trying to highjack the thread. thanks

I've got to hand it to the guy who posted the duct insulation. I have not used it myself, but I went to lowes looked over my shoulder and cut off a little piece. It is exactly the same as cascade mat. cascade is another dynamat. I get cost at the dfw distributor for cascade so I have always used it. The duct insulation is just as goood. I would say run with it. Even at dealer cost the duct stuff is still a fifth of the cost.

Well, after telling my girlfreind there might be a cheaper alternative to cascade, off to the garage with her toyota rav4. I lined the floor and front door panels with the duct stuff. I can't really explain it, and your car might react different. but in her rav4 it literally cut out all of the road noise completely, the only thing left was wind noise. Coming from a car audio shop, I never got that kind of result from dynamt or cascade. go figure.

It took me about 5 hours to do the whole car minus the doors. Havent' done the doors yet.
