The 1997 CD headunit won't be able to control the factory CD Changer.

I know. I read that in your post. You asked for possible issues and I stated one. Also, since it can't control the stock CD Changer, it won't work with the PIE GM9-AUX adapter either. If you don't have the stock CD Changer or the PIE GM9-AUX, then it should work fine. I don't completely remember though. Maybe someone else (WhiteBird00?) will chime in and validate.

As VIP1 said, the head unit from 97 is physically compatible - it will mount and plug right in. However, you won't be able to use your existing CD changer with it because CD head units couldn't control a changer until late in the 99 model year. Also, because it can't control a CD changer, it also won't work with any of the auxiliary input adapters on the market in case you decide you want to add satellite radio or an MP3 player.

What is your question? We've already answered that the 97 head unit will fit except that it won't be compatible with your existing CD changer.

Yes, it will mount and plug right in (refer to post #6 above). No other wiring or adapters are necessary.
