The 1156 won't fit the existing sockets. It is the old style bayonet bulb but the socket is for the newer wedge bulbs. The factory bulb is a 3155 but you can also use a 3156 (it's the same thing only brighter). Look for an LED bulb that is a replacement for one of those two numbers.

I wouldn't recommend LEDs for the backup light. I have 55watt halogens in mine. They are much brighter than the stock standard incandescent bulbs. Its a re-based bulb that is available at PepBoys. They come in a regular bulb package with a black and yellow backer. The same manufacturer makes beeping ones, but I don't have that. At first I was concerned about the increased output, but they are only on for a minute or two at a time so it shouldn't be much of an issue. I've had them for several months now (maybe a year) without any problems. I'm really happy with them. They really light up the road behind me.

I am using the tower LED's for the reverse lights and no issues with them. They are whiter and they have good brightness without being overbearing.

now see I bought 3157s and then did alittle research and thought they were the wrong ones and to try and covered it up I posted 1156 24-LED Lights White 2-Bulbs TurnSignal/BackUP/Taillights because I didnt want to look stupid for buying the wrong ones but I guess I did buy the right ones if they work in your reverse lights. so I really bought 3157s and they should be here soon. so we will see, now i feel dumb

what would be the best choice if you have limo tint, but cant see your back up lights at night? The LEDs? Or the 55watt Halogens that VIP1 mentioned?

Went to my local pepboys to buy the 55w he was talking about. They had one in stock and the packaging looked real old and had the year 2000 by the (C). Told me they wouldn't be getting any more in, so I went on eBay and ordered a pair of the ones on there. They say 50watts instead, but hopefully they should work real well.
