94Z able Upgrade to Newer style Keyfob?
My friend has a 94Z28 and he just got a newer style keyfob, the same ones the ls1 cars use. So the question is can he reprogram it to work on his 94Z? he is also wondering if he can program it to honk the horn when the lock button is pressed twice like the late model camaros do. If anybody knows if this will work or has a guide to reprograming the fob that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Maybe and no.
The key fob doesn't get programmed, the keyless entry system gets reprogrammed to be able to read the key fob. So you can try reprogramming to match the new key fob and see if it works. If it doesn't then you haven't lost anything - just reprogram back to the original fob. The programming procedure is in the owner's manual. If you don't have it, PM user "Formula350" - he was doing this on a 93 about three weeks ago and has the procedure for the older cars.
The honking is part of the vehicle content anti-theft system (alarm) that was available as part of the BCM programming on 96-02 models. Prior to 96, the keyless entry system was handled by its own module that didn't include any alarm capabilities.

Don't think the 96-02 remote will work - different PN and FCCID#. You can search the fccid on the fob at http://autotechs.com/fcc/fccidsearch.htm The programming instructions are at http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#1995keyless if you want to try. Programming the later remotes are different too.
