Default New Head Unit for '02 Z06; how to keep 8" woofers?

Hey guys,

I just purchased an Alpine IDA-X001 from Crutchfield for my '02 Z06. The head unit comes with all the necessary stuff, wiring harness, mounting plate, etc.

However, the wiring harness that crutchfield supplies does not have provisions for the 8" woofer in the door. With their wiring harness, you lose those speakers. Losing them is not an option for me, as I'm trying to improve my stereo, not diminish it.

Does anyone know of a wiring harness that I can purchase that will allow me to keep the subs in the door?

Or, will I be forced to try to splice and wire them myself?

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Ralph

I Would Go Check At Best Buy Or Circuit City They Should Have One Because My Camaro Has A Six Speaker Sytem Factory With 8' Subs And I Got My Harness From Circuit City And All My Speakers Work Just Fine.....

You mean the Monsoon 8-speaker system with the 6.5" subs in the sail panels? Chevrolet never made a 6-speaker system with 8" subs for the Camaro although there was a 5-speaker Bose system with a single sub in the early 4th generations.

Corvette, not Camaro.

so I was pointing out that Camaros never had such a system from the factory - especially not with eight foot (8') subs!

Guess it helps if I don't skim posts.

I think I am going to go with the Bose adapter/interface from pac-audio. That seems to be the most popular choice.

Thanks!

You didn't mention you had a Bose system. If that's the case then it's no wonder the aftermarket head unit didn't work properly. The new style Bose systems send audio signal to the amp at a constant volume and the serial data line sends volume control information separately.

If you have a Bose system you must use a Bose adapter to install an aftermarket HU. On the other hand, if you don't have a Bose system then a Bose adapter won't work.

Sorry about that; it is the factory Bose system. I'm glad all I need is an interface.
