Default Computer/electrical, odo says 0 miles

99 ss camaro just turned 60k and after parking for about 15 min. and starting again the dash lit like a Christmas tree and "error" showed on the odometer, the speedo was about 10 mph too fast and the service vehicle lite was on.

I have checked/reseated all the fuses and and checked seating of the relays in the fuse boxes, all 3. That's about the extent of my knowledge. Everything works fine except the air bag lite stays on and the odometer says 0. At one point I just turned the key on without starting and saw the correct mileage, but not since.

Also have problems starting sometimes, security lite comes on. If I wait until the security lite goes out it almost always starts. 1 time it took twice. I know there are threads about this later problem but I'm guessing they may be related.

The only mods I've made is a Hurst Billet Plus shifter about 6 weeks ago. Bone stock otherwise.

I'm sure there a lots of things it could be but any clues are appreciated.

Wonder if I can get what I paid for it now?!? I double checked the battery cables, since I did have to take the neg off to install the shifter. I even left it off for about 12-15 min since I think I read where that might reset some codes? Anyway that didn't fix it. I wonder if its a relay. There's not a lot of info in the owners manual about what each relay/fuse does. I'll check the faq for wiring stuff.

Keep the ideas coming and thanks!

my guess is it could be the resistor for the VATS. if it is, its a $500 job acording to GM because they take apart the steering column.
