Auto "ON" headlight, I want to cancel it On my '98 Trans Am, I want to cancel the Auto headlight on function. I've asked this a long time ago and got an answer but can't seem to find it. Please help and Thank You

It's a Canadian car but I don't want to eliminate the daytime running lights, I want to eliminate the lights that come on when it's suppose to be dark. I say suppose because mine turn on if I'm in the shade too long.

go to your local electronics store (ie radioshack) and get some 1k ohm resistors. Unplug the sensor in the dash and stick one of the resistors in the socket (the end with the wires). Throw some electrical tape on it to keep dust out and keep the resistor in place, and you're done. This will keep your amber daytime running lights functional.
This will trick the sensor into reading daylight all the time.

The sensor works by increasing resistance in the circuit as the outside light decreases. Shorting the two sensor wires together is exactly how GM disabled automatic headlights on US Firebirds (no resistor). You can unplug the sensor and put a short piece of wire connecting the two sensor wires but it's much easier and quicker to just crimp a ScotchLock over the two wires to connect them together without even removing the sensor.

The resistor or a wire jumper, just "plugs" in and tape it up. Crimping wires just don't cut it in my book.

Anyways, I'll go with Whitebird's suggestion but I will put a jumper on the end of the connector. This way If I should sell the car, I can put it back to original easy. Thank you all for all your inputs.
