Default Camaro:monsoon Sail

Half of the threads on sail speaker replacement are for firebirds.

I work at best buy and basically get car audio for nothing

do they carry any speaker that would work as a replacement?

Ideally, you want a 2-ohm SVC 6.5" midbass or sub. That's not an easy thing to find but you can use most aftermarket 4-ohm midbass speakers because they are more efficient than the stock speakers so the increased impedance doesn't cut volume much (if any). All you need is a speaker that is 3dB more sensitive to make up for the doubled impedance - so look for something in the 90-91dB range.

As far as I know Best Buys does not carry midbass drivers by themselves. You basically have to buy a component set and just use the midbass speakers out of it. IF your discount is enough it may offset the cost of buying the whole thing vs. just buying the midbass by itself.

so a component system would work, but just using the speakers and not the tweeters?

Essentially that is what a midbass driver is but it really depends on what the frequency range is of the driver as to whether it would deliver good performance for that application.
