mounting deep for door speakers?
Hey, i'll upgrade my stock sound system with Hu, amps and sub and of course speakers. (98 camaro convertible)
For the doors in looking for a 2 way compo system with tweeters on mirror corners and woofers in stock door location. How deep is the maximum what i can used for the doors? 6,5 (16,5 cm) in diamter but not shure how deep is possible bevore i get problems with window etc.

I had Dayton speakers of 3" depth in my doors with 3/4" MDF spacers. I broke one of my window tracks because it was just barely bumping the speaker - not enough to stop or for me to notice, but enough to do damage. It apparently did not hit on the other side, no damage to that. So I'd hesitate to recommend more than 2 1/4", maybe 2 3/8" at most using the stock plastic braket. I may have gotten unlucky.
I use and highly recommend these: http://car.rainbow-audio.de/products...n=7&art=231415
