Default Wtfs wrong with my ipod?

This morning when i went to my car, i plugged my iPod into my Pioneer DEH-5900i head unit and my ipod has a screen with a picture of an empty battery and a circle with a slash through it. Below that it says "Please wait... Very Low battery".. then after a few minutes it goes to the reset screen, resets.. then lights up with tiny picture of an iPod with a frown and a little triangle with an explanation mark in the middle, and below that it says "www.apple.com/support/ipod"
it keeps repeating this even when i reset it. Anyone ever experience this or have any ideas?

Thumbs up how cold is it?

if your ipod is under 50 degrees F it will do that. good reason not to leave it in the car overnight during winter. put it on the defroster vent by the windshield and crank the heat for a min. it will work fine.

not necessarily, my old ipod did that even when it wasnt cold... your ipod could be broken like mine was, listen really close and see if you can hear it "winding up" and then suddenly stop working
