There's a guy that custom makes the tweeter pods to fit in the triangle areas behind your side view mirrors on one of the other forums. He makes them in batches as required (or at least he did).

I have a set that haven't installed yet - but can't remember details - maybe someone else could chime in with info...

Here are my prototypes I've been working on. I haven't had time to mess with them more right now but I have gotten this far.

Ian, they're looking good so far.

I need to get that order in with you, I hope you get some time to get the pods finalized...you know you've got me sold on that whole package soon as they're ready.

Have you thought about reusing the factory brackets for your tweeters? I did and it works perfectly. You will have to pull the clips off to take the bracket off of the door panel. Then I used a screwdriver to pop the factory tweeter off of the bracket. To install the new tweeter, I used outdoor double sidded tape. To mount the brackets back on the door panel, I put a dab of Gorilla Glue on each tab there you go. Put the factory covers on and you can't tell you have better tweeters in there.

^^^That works for Trans Ams but Camaros do not have that option. The other problem with the Trans Am is that they are a bit low so you end up blocking sound with your leg and it changes the imaging when you have a passenger. With the pods even if someone is riding with you there is no change in highs. I believe this was Mikes concern and I have noticed it a bit too. I just don't usually have anyone riding with me so it wasn't as much of a concern.

The tweeter pods are a must and it rasies the soundstage. I have been using them and with the Alpine SPR-17LS Speakers, the tweeters articulate and you can set them to various angles for your liking.

What he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Sound stage is MUCH better when you move the tweets from down low by your feet to up closer to your head...

^^^All of the above!!
I still have several CDT Upstage-222 systems available as well. This is a great way of improving your imaging and sound stage. Here's more info on it:
http://www.cdtaudio.com/stagefront_upstage_systems.htm
First 5 that want them I will knock the price down to $59.00 per system. This is for 2 3/4" silk tweeters, 2 fully adjustable blending modules, and 3 different style mounts.

Yep!! Just add shipping. The box is small though so it should be very little depending on distance from Marietta GA!!

Hard to tell from the pictures.. does the pod interfere with the defroster vent at all?

Exactly...I have a Camaro (different doorpanels with flat speaker grilles) and when I move my leg off the dead pedal, the imaging changes, same for if I have a passenger, it's annoying. I drive 135 or so miles a day, so I spend a lot of time at 75mph on the cruise control, and I move my legs some because I can't sit still. I'm pumped about moving my tweeters up high AND adding a second set in the a-pillars aimed across the dash. Then once Alpine puts the Imprint thing for my CDA-9886 on the market, I should have a pretty sweet setup.

No.

By the way, does everyone else have the issue with those pods facing down a bit? I don't like that. They should face up a bit if anything.

if you dont want to pay the extra $$$ for the pods you can always cut a hole in your A-pillars and place the tweeters in there. thats where i have mine and they sound great.

Go to the bottom of the page on the link and you can get some other ideas for mounting tweeters and I don't mean just for the Upstage. http://www.cdtaudio.com/stagefront_upstage_systems.htm
