Yes, that's a good match.. wire both coils on the sub together, + to +, and - to - to make the amp see a 2ohm load.

That sub would be decent in a Kee Stelthbox...

Thanks for the responses... and I forgot to mention that I'm planning on using it with an MTX stealthbox.

If not this amp... do you guys have any other suggestions? I have the ideal amp that I would love to have, however, it's expensive as hell....

I just bought a reman'd Kenwood mono amp for my truck , a KAC-9102D, for $131 shipped off pricegrabber - it does 500 at 4 ohm, 850 at 2 ohm, which is freakin plenty.

For the price, it can't be beat, though new, it retailed for almost $300. It's not the best or cleanest thing out there, but on a sub-only application, I'd bet you'll be hard-pressed to tell the difference, especially with a down-firing sub.

Since you're running the MTX box, save some money, you don't need a top-of-the-line amp... Kee has some decent deals on mono amps.

I am guessing that sub would be really happy with 400 watts rms in a ported box, and 750 watts rms in a sealed box! 1000 watts rms would be a little over board.
And since you have DVC 4 ohm, bring that baby down to a 2 ohm total load and you will be good.
IMO i would like to see the sub at a 2 ohm total load and hooked up to the Alpine MRP-M650 in a sealed box!

See if you can sell the MTX stealthbox, and buy a Subthump stealthbox because the MTX box is spefically made for the MTX sub. They might have different mounting depths, and cut out diameters, and volume cu. ft.)

The type R can handle a lot more than 500 watts as long as it is clean power. That is for people trying to get the absolute most from their system, though. The amp you picked will work fine.

i had the EXACT set up and it sounded good. but i switched the sub with a memphis m1 and a mtx thunder 3401 thats also rated at 400 but on the birth sheet it put out 488 rms. the new set up sound's way better and plays a lot lower and deeper. the alpine can use more power than that amp puts out at least 500-600 watts. but with that set up it will sound good just not the best sound posible.

get one off ebay reman or new hell i justbought a used alpine 400 @ 4 and 600 @ 2 (plenty because alpines make very clean power usually and like most good companies are underrated so its really 450-500 and 700+)

I know for my systems I always like to get an amp too big for the subwoofer, for the simple fact that I like to turn the gain down so the amp isnt working as hard..... But that amp will power and it is Alpine so it will hold up.
