Default keyless entry add

Hi,
I live in france and the european camaro doesn't come with the keyless entry.
So i open the doors with the little key

Someone tell me that i need a new BCM and a keyless entry remote. But a new BCM cost me aroud 250$ shipped + the cost of the remote.

So do you think i could buy a used bcm from someone that has the same resistor value of my ignition key?

Let me know.

Thx

The parts list shows only one BCM for all 98-02 Camaros - there is no listing of a different part for export models. That means that your BCM already has the keyless entry capability in it and you should be able to just buy a remote and program it.

Yes but there is 2 different bcm no? One with the option AUO and one without. No?

In france there is no camaro with the keyless entry, only remote comes with the alarm in option (texalarm), mine was equiped but the alarm was remove (maybe goin out)

If i could just buy a remote it's fabulous

No, there is only one BCM part number for ALL 98-02 Camaros (part #9353691). This includes both the keyless entry option (option code AU0) and the theft deterrent system option(option code UA6). The only thing missing for the keyless entry system if you didn't get that option was the remote key fob. The alarm system option involved other components (such as the impact sensor) so just having the BCM doesn't make the alarm available.

The factory alarm wasn't available without keyless entry. If you had the factory alarm then you definitely had keyless entry. All you need is the remote key fob to make it work.

I have no idea why you would need to look at it (there's no markings that will tell you what it does) but it is a black box about the size of a paperback book mounted under the right side of the dash behind the glovebox. It has three connectors - 6-pin green, 6-pin black, and 32-pin blue.

On the rockauto site there is two ref for the bcm. 9353681 and 9353691.

I will check for a remote...

Although 9353681 appears to be a valid part number, I can't identify what model it is for. The 9353691 BCM is listed for 97-02 Camaro and Firebird (both coupe and convertible).

Yes, a used key fob will work fine as long as you put a fresh battery in it. You want part number 16245100 (it will be marked on the back) and they're fairly easy to find on eBay if you do a search for that number.
