*HELP* 6.5 infinity sail speakers suck
I recently installed some 6.5 infinity's in the sail panels and they sound 5 times worse than stock. I was told these work well with the stock system but they have no base and when they have base its not really base it just makes a crappy vibrating sound. My question is what are my options to fixing this because I spent like $80 for the pair. I believe they are 2 ohms just like the stock speakers were. What can i put in there so it will sound a little better than stock with some actual base like i used to have before the stockers blew?
Thanks in advance

Funny, I run Kappa's in the door and in the sail panels and they sound fine. But I have a MTX TA7804 powering them as opposed to the stock crap. They are okay speakers, just not for your app.

YOU NEED TO GET RID OF THE STOCK AMP AND STOCK HU!!!! its running at 2 ohms the speakers only can take 4 ohms. 2ohms will blow and make your speakers sound gay. read the stickies. OR check out my cardomain in my sig in a few days i just did a whole install and you will enjoy it. infinity references are beast!!!

In this case running a 4ohm speaker is fine. Running a 2ohm speaker is fine.
The issue here is running the Infinity Reference speakers. It is well known that these speakers do not produce good midbass in most peoples opinion including my own as I have owned 3 different pairs and liked non of them for that reason. Using aftermarket amplification can help with this but using a different speaker even with the stock Monsoon amp produces better midbass response. When buying speakers it is important to do your research before making a purchase. Especially when it comes to F-bodies and all the quirks that GM put into the Monsoon system. Even Crutchfield recommends stuff that doesn't work at all with the F-body.

What you need is an amp. And imo, if you're still using stock amp, then buy a speaker with very low rms power and a high sensitivity rating like 92 or somthing.
If infinitys give bright highs then those are the speakers im looking for, i know i've hears that pioneer speakers also have bright highs?

I just installed my infinity kappa and they sound great compared to my stock front speakers. My stock sailpanel woofers still kicking but they will be replace with a better pair not infinity brand or any coaxial speaker. I want to replace with a better woofer (same size and depth).
