Default *HELP* 6.5 infinity sail speakers suck

I recently installed some 6.5 infinity's in the sail panels and they sound 5 times worse than stock. I was told these work well with the stock system but they have no base and when they have base its not really base it just makes a crappy vibrating sound. My question is what are my options to fixing this because I spent like $80 for the pair. I believe they are 2 ohms just like the stock speakers were. What can i put in there so it will sound a little better than stock with some actual base like i used to have before the stockers blew?

Thanks in advance

I did read the stickies but i am a beginner when it comes to speakers and how you hook them up. i just want a good sounding mid-bass speaker like I had when I first got my car. the stockers were not that bad they just got old and overused.

Consider a 10-12" subwoofer in the back. See the post in my sig. It's not all the info out there but it's something.

Funny, I run Kappa's in the door and in the sail panels and they sound fine. But I have a MTX TA7804 powering them as opposed to the stock crap. They are okay speakers, just not for your app.

Infinity is NOT good for bass, and their sound is like it or hate it. It's very bright.

No, the are decent at mids and good for highs. Thats why I have a subthump box loaded with mtx 12's. Powered by a old school Fosgate.

YOU NEED TO GET RID OF THE STOCK AMP AND STOCK HU!!!! its running at 2 ohms the speakers only can take 4 ohms. 2ohms will blow and make your speakers sound gay. read the stickies. OR check out my cardomain in my sig in a few days i just did a whole install and you will enjoy it. infinity references are beast!!!

Huh??? Your not really that familiar with impedance are you? It does get complicated so let me try to expain it a bit. If you put a 4ohm speaker in there the amp is now running at 4ohms. The speaker dictates this not the amp. Ohms=resistance. Running a 4ohm speaker is fine and hurts nothing. However, running a 2ohm speaker on an amp that is not 2ohm stable can cause damage to the amp and the speaker. Reason...less impedance=less resistance so the amp is working twice as hard as it should. If the amp is not able to run at 2ohms or less...it will clip or blow.
In this case running a 4ohm speaker is fine. Running a 2ohm speaker is fine.

The issue here is running the Infinity Reference speakers. It is well known that these speakers do not produce good midbass in most peoples opinion including my own as I have owned 3 different pairs and liked non of them for that reason. Using aftermarket amplification can help with this but using a different speaker even with the stock Monsoon amp produces better midbass response. When buying speakers it is important to do your research before making a purchase. Especially when it comes to F-bodies and all the quirks that GM put into the Monsoon system. Even Crutchfield recommends stuff that doesn't work at all with the F-body.

What you need is an amp. And imo, if you're still using stock amp, then buy a speaker with very low rms power and a high sensitivity rating like 92 or somthing.

If infinitys give bright highs then those are the speakers im looking for, i know i've hears that pioneer speakers also have bright highs?

Where did you put the mids from that set?

Not a problem...it gets confusing!! Just remember you can always go up in impedance...just don't go down without checking the amp specs for compatibility.

I just installed my infinity kappa and they sound great compared to my stock front speakers. My stock sailpanel woofers still kicking but they will be replace with a better pair not infinity brand or any coaxial speaker. I want to replace with a better woofer (same size and depth).
