No, it isn't a "kit" - it's just a trim bezel modified to fit a double DIN head unit. I bought the double DIN Metra mounting kit that phantomzer0 recommended for $10.

So you used the Metra mounting kit, and that custom Bezel from C5 Kidd, and the D3 fit right up eh?

Pretty much...I had to trim the top of the dash opening just a little with a Dremel tool. The fit was just a little too tight for my liking because of the plastic reinforcing ribs along the top edge of the opening. Taking off about 1/8" allowed the D3 to slide in without scraping the labels off the top of it. I also had to remove the plastic rear support same as with most aftermarket head units.

Actually it looks better than i thought it would. All you need to do is smooth out the edges from your bezel, maybe with some bondo or something. Nice job!

They go for about 500-600 on eBay all day long. If you buy it from Best buy Or Circuit City or even Crapfield it costs about 1K

Kee Audio (a sponsor here) is making a limited quantity of double DIN bezels for Firebirds. You will probably have to wait a while because he is recovering from recent back surgery. There is more information in this thread.

The clips don't actually secure to the car until you attach the radio bezel. It's not the most "theft deterrent" but it works quite well.

Nice choice on the avic btw, its a really good deal, especially if you use an ipod or xm!!
Yup,, exactly what i did !..

I know this is an old thread. Hopefully that "one" mod won't bitch at me and close the thread.

I used the "search" function, "yeah me!" and found this thread.

I'm putting a AVH-4300 into a Firebird and looking for tips.
