New rebuilt altenator is squeaking?

New rebuilt altenator is squeaking? Just here recently, something in my belt assembly started squeaking. So I removed the belt and turned each pulley, only to find my 2 week old altenator is the squeaky culprit.
Since the pulley spins with the altenator and does not have the same bearing setup as say, the tensioner pulley, I assume I can't just replace the pulley and the bearings are inside the housing. Is this typical for new altenators and will it just go away? Or maybe the brushes just need to brake in? Some kind of lubricant to make the squeaking go away?
Or do I have to replace the whole damn altenator again...

Did you have to get a new altenator, or were you able to remove the pulley?
I've been trying to get my alt. pulley off to re-grease it and I'm having a hell of a time.

Brian did you ever fix this problem? I installed a new alternator (not rebuilt) from autozone about 2,000 miles ago. I just noticed a few days ago that I have a squeaking coming from that area now too.

the rebuilt alternators you get from auto zone,krangen,pepboys are junk!
my chevy truck had a pepboys Alt. and it only lasted a couple of months then I went and bought a kregens and Total I had at least 10 alternators in the last 10 yrs
I think I finally got one to last its been on there for little over a yr. (life time warrenty)
one of them I got and the diodes were bad before I even put it on and another one the whole pulley came off.....
when they say rebuild all they do is clean them and ONLY replace what is bad and thats all...
on my formula I bought the alternator kit for $45. new everything and I rebuilt it myself and that was almost a year ago.

My alternator works fine but the bearings are a bit squeaky. Could you tell me how to open it up to lube them? I'm assuming the bearings are of the type that are sealed with a rubber/plastic flap.
