Default Mustang GT death

So in mexico this morning, I was cruisin along minding my own business on the freeway about 60 mph (I usually go a bit under if traffic is light), and a newer mustang (2006ish) with a ricer spoiler pulls up next to me. He sounded pretty stock, so I wasn't gonna waste my time, but he started pacing and revving at me, so I decided why not? After checkin my 6, I put her into 2nd gear, slowing to about 50 mph. I gave the honks, and we went. I shut down at around 100, only to find he was about 5 buslengths back. Mustangs are slow... He had to learn the hard way... I have minimal mods consisting of a lid, ported tb, smooth bellow, and chopped exhaust and ram air.

5 buses from 50-100... Sure it wasn't a V6? I mean anything can happen, but jesus christ, even if the other car started in a higher gear it shouldn't be that bad given your mods.

Agreed.
If it was a late model GT, [ stock] you would have beat him by maybe 2-3 lengths, but buses?

Trust me, i was suprised as well. But I knew I would win, my old 84 fox mustang beat them with only headers and exhaust... I had driver mod on that guy as well. Also, the modular ford motors really really suffer at the altitude I'm at (5800 above sealevel) pushrod motors do much better.

What's your logic behind a modular motor reacting to altitude more than the LS motor?

The only way anyone would be 5 buses back from 50-100 is if they slammed on the brakes and you floored it.

What, you didn't know that a 16s '84 Mustang runs high 12s with just headers and exhaust? Bunch of n00bs...

I have several friends with '83-'84 GT's that had C/I/H/E and ported heads in some instants and ran mid to high 14's back in the '80's. Even they would be like "STOP" .

It sounds like you honked off a race and punched it while the other guy just sat there and watched you..... Maybe he even started to race you but shut it down seconds ater you started?? Not tryin to give you **** but 5 busses is hard to see...

RE: 5 buses, I think we can all agree that that was an exhaggeration. Even a Sixxer S197 wouldn't be that far back as stated. 1-2 buses, maybe.

Personally, I don't think that S197 guy went WOT AND it was a sixxer, not a GT.

And btw, I hate douchenozzles that go UNDER the speed limit. What reason is there to ever go below the speed limit? If you're on the freeway, that's your choice; stay in the right lane. But on the two-lane roads that we have SO many of around where I live, I think it's socially-irresponsible to go under the speed limit. If there is a line of cars behind you, go the speed limit. If you don't feel confident enough if your driving to go that fast, you probably should be driving. Ok, end

If you want to go below when no one's around that's one thing, but if you're holding traffic bying going slow....that is just plain stupid.

Then it would KILL you to live around here. And yeah, it's fine if you want to go under the speed limit when you're by yourself, but I honestly have no idea why anyone would. The speed limits are already so low anyway, I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to go slower.

Oh no..trust me..central CA is bad enough...probably just as bad if not worse.

Slower?...Enter the tree huggers.

Some speed limits I understand, like 25 in a school, etc. But there are some highways that 55 or 65 is uh, what?...there's some roadways at 45/55 I just dont' get. No blinding side roads, homes, etc. Then again you'd have to see where I live to understand I guess.

i hate agreeing with you mustang guys :bang

but i totally agree 110%, **** the freeway has huge retaining walls on both sides, the expressway's and freeway's should be a minimum of 65-70 if you ask me. otherwise its just a large city street going 55 i mean come on, even the econo boxes are still low in the RPM range at 65.
