LS1 'Maro vs. 03 Cobra

LS1 'Maro vs. 03 Cobra So there is this guy who has a LOUD *** black Cobra that drives around. I always see him around, but never had the chance to run him. Well, finally, I saw him getting on the highway one night, so I went out of my way to catch him. I had never run a newer Cobra before, so I was pretty excited to see what would happen.
I pulled up to him and kicked it down to 3rd at 60. (4.10s + 6-speed = bad ***)
I hear him drop some gears and i sit there and just play with him, waiting for him to punch it.
Race 1: He jumps out about 1/2 a car and stays there till about 120. By 150 he is about a 1/4 car.
Race 2: Gets the jump again by about 1/2 a car but i pull dead even with him by 140, me SLOWLY pulling. We shut down due to traffic.
Race 3: Even punch, and I pull about 1/2 a car to 150.
I hit the brakes and he gets in front and signals to get off on the exit. Interested in his mods and happy with the outcome, I exit with him and stop at Shell.
He gets out smiling and asks how much Im spraying.
I laugh and tell him im just a bolt on car and GLADLY pop my hood. As im doing so, I ask what he has. He said intake and full exhaust.
He inspects my engine and claims that I "hid it well". lol Trying not to be a richard head to him, I told him that his car was fast and I liked it. He gave me a go to hell look and said, "All you punk kids spray and still can't keep up." and laughed and drove away. Im not even going to start the debate on Ls1s vs SUPERCHARGED 'Stangs...
Overall, I say it was pretty close. And DAMN it was fun! Too bad he was a dick...

Hell no I didn't spray! I mean, i would LOVE to be able to, but money is tight, especially with 98camaro28, Jr. on the way. I actually do plan on doing a HSW 100 dry shot when I can afford it though.

Nice races! Some people just get it in their heads that when they buy a fast car and put a couple parts on it, it goes from "faster than everyone" else to "John Force can't touch this". I just like to laugh to myself and let them live in their imaginary little world.
On a side note, I was in my buddy's 02 Z28 M6 with bolt-ons and we ran a vert Cobra with exhaust and the results were pretty much the same as yours. Sounds accurate to me.

the cobra shinesin the mid range 20-100, but the f-body always seems to have the launch, and top end from being lighter and more aerodynamic.
I's say he also had a pulley on that beast(did you hear a loud wine from the supercharger?)
I can't believe he called you a punk cause he thought you were running nitrous.
I would have said "To bad Ford had to put a SC on your car and it still wasn't enough"
And if he plays the "Well your motor is bigger" game............"Its not our fault Ford built a small engine"!!!!!!!!!

Also, I know plenty of people who have or have had exhaust-only Cobras, and they are usually a pretty good race for a full bolt-on Fbody from my personal experience. But I suppose anything can and does happen on the street.
