Default Firehawk vs. Shelby GT500

Well me and my buddy were out a few weeks ago just riding around and look over and a GT500 was next to us turning the same direction we were. I didn't think much of it cause an older guy was driving it but I should have known better cause after we straightened out he launched like he was wanting to race. So my buddy with me tells me to go after him and race him. I catch up and downshift to 2nd gear and were side by side going about 40-50. I couldnt believe when we both launched I jumped ahead by about 2 cars. I felt him coming back but I held him off by about a fender all the way through 4th and got out of it somewhere around 110. I counln't believe it that I just edged out a Shelby GT500. Well my friend decides to start mouthing off and got the old man pissed so he said lets go from a 20 roll. I wanted to take the win and go home but I didnt have anything to lose. So we did and he got me good out of the hole and kept the lead but at least I can say I got him once.

I have a 02 Firehawk LS6 intake, K+N with lid, eldelbrock headers, 3" Texas Rumbler X pipe system, Spec stage 3 clutch, Pro 5.0 short shifter, 3.73 gears, subframe connectors, sway bars, lower control arms, solid motor mounts...pretty much tubular suspension everything...might be a few things i left out.
And he was giving it everything the first time. I just think I got a good jump and he couldn't play catch up fast enough

This same scenario happened to me in my GTO. A fox-body got the jump on me on and left me in the dust. When I caught him at the next light I roasted is fox booty. Anything can happen on the street.

I'm guessing that if you jumped out on him that hard the first race, he was probably in the wrong gear. But a win is a win

That might be a good assumption. . . hard to know when you only hear one side of the story, and i doubt gramps will be on here defending himself haha.

In the wrong gear is prolly a good assumption but the driver is half the part of racing right.

Yeah, he probably didn't drop enough gears but a win is a win! Nice kill and death! Just shows you you have to be on your game even if you have the faster car. Simple driver error can cost you even with a lot more power.

I don't understand what it is people love about Firehawks. Besides the badges and big open nostrils/smaller ram-air humps, they looks the same as a WS6. And I personally think the dual holes and BIG humps on the front of a regular WS6 look way more badass than the Firehawks' wimpy hood. The Firehawks look a little nicer than a regular TA but are still a little plain without the huge WS6 hood IMO.
