Default New BS thread, good info

I also posted this in the Lounge. You have been warned, I have been burnt.

Guys, recently my debit and company gas cards were somehow duplicated and these azzholes spent $3,000 in one single day (this was my money from a debit card, not a credit card) and after I spoke to the detective who helped me, he asked me to spread the word on how you can reduce your chances.

I noticed the charges the very next day so thank God I was able to cancel my debit card and end thier shopping spree. This involved my personal Credit Union Debit card that acts like a credit card but actually comes out of my bank account so it is much slower to get the money back since they were actually spending my money, not credit. Next was my company gas card that actually needs a pin to work but they got it to work.....

According to the detective, they have skimmers (cc swipers usually found in resturaunts to steal your actual credit card info on the magnetic strip) installed.......THIEVES INSTALL THEM BEHIND THE GAS STATION CC SWIPES at the gas pumps that are the farthest away from the station itself. When customers swipe them, they are able to store up to 20 credit/debit cards on one single skimmer. The thieves go back the next night, retrieve the skimmer from the pump and the station has no idea, usually. This is all from the detective so I am simply warning you guys.

He said the best thing to do is NEVER use a debit card and try to use the pumps that are close to the station or even better, go inside and actually watch when they handle your card at all times.

As the economy stalls, people will find new ways to steal.

I really wanted you guys to know about it, reason for the additional post in here.

Feel free to use this as your BS thread as well.

Yea, he was very cool, even helped with a call to our credit union. Credit Cards are vey easy to dispute but debit cards are not, atleast not at credit uinons. Credit Unions have a minimum 10 day investigation......sucked

I did get it $$ all back though.

The first thing these idiots bought was a AAA membership for 3 different names......

2nd thing, a cell phone

Always trying to make more power.

My ported FAST 92 will be here next week. Then rockers and an N20 kit. Then start saving for a 416 shortblock. I was/am considering trying to pick up a C6Z but I hardly drive this car as it is and with this being my first Vette, I'm kind of attached. A little 416 and a small shot is good for a fun DD. I love the A6 too, Im lazy in this car, its very comfy.

Hey Chris, I need some drag wheels. Any thoughts...which wheels, size, backspacing, etc?
Keep in mind that I'm still running the stock rear Cobra calipers. I'll switch to the
GT brakes for a 15" wheel if needed. I'd really like to go with a 15" wheel so I can get
max tire height. I'm also running a 3.90 gear.

I honestly don't even know....I just ran ET drags on my stock Cobra rims. 285? i think. I'll look around and see what I can dig up
How big of a tire you wanting to run? 26? 28? 315?

I want to run the biggest possible street legal drag radial I can squeeze
in the wheel well...and not hit the exhaust. I don't want to dump the exhaust
before the axle. A 28" tire would be perfect with the 3.90 gear.

Cool...thanks. No Bogarts either. They're too soft and Michigan pot holes
will bend them for sure.

Go beat on that GT of yours.

i think the biggest you can go is a 15X10 with a 5.5 inch back spacing. dont quote me on that tho. you could run a 315 or 11.50 on that no problem.

billet specialties makes a nice wheel as well. also if you want to run the 28" tall tire you may have to "tweek" your tailpipes a bit.

I've been looking at those wheels. They look nice and the price is really reasonable.
I tried to mount some 15" prostars with 28" ET drags last year
and the exhaust and the calipers both were in the way. I'm sure
I'll end up swapping out the rear brakes to allow a 15" wheel. The last
thing I want to do is buy a set of wheels and then find out they don't fit.

I'm talking about some big fat meats like this out back...

my buddy jake runs 28X10.50 mt drags for the track on his car. he also still runs tailpipes. he said it took a bit of muscle to get the exhuast to clear but it worked. oh and i think the back spacing on those billet specialties are 6.50.
