Default Lt1 vs. c5 z06

I was driving down the main street tonight when i saw a yellow z06 at the gas station (rare to see anything that isn't just a c5 or c6 in the small town..) So I drive by and don't think much of it, he ends up catching up to me down a couple miles, i downshift to let the rpms go up a little bit and open the cutout some. He looks over smiles so i went to second at like 35 he does the same but traffic was ahead of us. So we hit a stop light with just us but the road merges into a two lane highway so yeah. We are going about 25 i put it in first, he hears me downshift and floors it without honks so i took off too but spun BAD, he pulls 2 or so on me. Once I got traction we just sat same length from each other til about 115-120mph. I was happy with how the old lt1 held it's own, especially at those speeds. But once speeds increased i know he woulda started pullin on me.

(mods in sig) and he was probably stock

Agreed but traction scares me with the 10 bolt I can't afford a 9" right now so sadly spinning is not necessarily a bad thing but I new mod's on the way definitely haha.

Nice run OP!! I don't hate on LT1's my bro has one. If you had been in second you may not have spun as bad or at all and maybe it would have been around a car then. Umm I have a off topic ? do you know how much hp your setup is making my brother is wanting to do the same setup in like 6 months. I don't really care if he can beat me in a race but should I worry about the LE2 against my car. Both are M6's. Thanks in advance for the info.

LE2 heads can support up to 400rwhp approx. so with te right cam an LE2 set-up can be down right nasty, and something you should watch out for yes

I had my car dynotuned on a mustang dyno put down 340rwhp and 345rwtq. But I have a custom piece of **** catback with the pipe going over the axle is literally 1.5inches so i put the cutout on it after the dyno and it is SOOOOOO much faster i'm guessing I gained atleast 30 at the wheels.

Mustang dyno's put down less power than dynojets so with the crap catback i **** you not is so restrictive its a whole new car with it open but yeah, with it just going thru the catback 340rwhp is equivalent to about 375-380rwhp on dynojet. With everything I have done the car should be right at 400rwhp with a decent catback.

I have friends with ls1 m6's and now that I have all the bugs worked out I can pull them pretty easily. But they aren't modded too much, just short throw, catback, lid and other little things. I got the cam that is as high as you want to go if you plan on running your bottom end for a while if he has refreshed bottom end and goes up to the 230/236 cam it will put down closer to 420rwhp.

Thanks for the info guys it sounds like my bro's LT1 is gonna be nasty. That should be a close run for both of us then. His LT1 is a 95 and it has 63k on the original factory components...I think he wants to keep his car as DD friendly as possible so I just asked him and he said that Elliot at epworks told him that he could expect 360whp easily and keep the daily driver aspect. He also kicked the idea around of putting a lil gas on his motor like a 75 shot. If he does I should really watch out...maybe I should spray mine to be sure he doesn't win
I don't really care if he beats me though if he does good job. At least both of us will be terrors on the streets around here. Small town not alot of fast cars.

Good race! Thos Z06's are nasty machines, but I bet with traction you could have evened it right up.

LOL @ the brotherly competition in this thread. I know all about that as my brother and I are always going back and forth. One year I'll have the faster car and the next year he's beating me. Makes for a very good time.
