Default Great race tonight!

My brother and I were out cruising in my 2002 Z28 and we came up on a real nice 2008 Mustang GT convertible. I saw that it had aftermarket exhaust and we noticed it had gauges. We jumped up onto the highway and he followed. I thought he was getting next to me and I started dropping it down into 3rd and but he punched it from a car back and flew past me. I punched it as he went flying by and looked like I stoped his pull with him a couple cars in front, but I wasn't pulling back. I thought maybe it was supercharged at that point, but I didn't hear any whine or whistle.

We got next to him and my brother told him to go on three honks. This time I decided to spray him. My bottle pressure was only 700 psi, but I didn't like the way he was pulling the first time, so I figured I'd take any advantage I could get. I dropped it into 3rd at 60mph, honked it off, and we hit it. Due to a lack of a purge and very low pressure it took a bit for the nitrous to hit and it seemed about dead even for a second. Once the nitrous hit I started pulling on him, but nothing crasy. I ended up about 2 or maybe 2.5 cars ahead by the top of 4th gear.

We pulled over after and talked and he was a real cool guy. The car was a 2008 GT vert 5 speed. His mods were CAI, x-pipe, magnaflow's, 4.10 gears, and a Zex kit set for a 125 shot. He said that he ran a best of 13.1 on motor and he ran a 12.4 @ 117mph on the spray (I'm assuming that's with street tires like he was running tonight). He said that it made 408 rwhp on the 125 shot.

My car is a 2002 Z28 M6, bolt-ons, 230/236 cam, 12-bolt, Nittos, making 400 rwhp and 364 rwtq. I have my HSW kit set for a 100 shot, but I don't have a purge or bottle heater (saving for a NANO) and the pressure was only 700 psi at the time of the race. My best time is 11.96 @ 117mph on motor with the Nittos. No numbers yet with the nitrous.

I had one passenger and the windows open, he was alone but had the top down.

Overall it was a great, friendly race and the guy was very cool.

cool race, good kill. His numbers seem a bit low for a 125 shot, maybe not it is a 4.6.

I think they make around 265-275 to the wheels stock, so with his mods I figure he's probably 285-300. Seems about right to me.

Good kill man. Those 3V's love the spray. Those Zex kits are rated at the flywheel so thats about right on street tires.

Thanks! I was definitely suprised by how fast it was. It seems that usually people leave the bigger mods for the coupes (except for Cobras, lol).

goes to show that 1/4 mile times dont mean **** on the street, you had .5 on him without your spray and you only pulled him by 2.5 with it (given the est that 1 car= .1 in the 1/4)

anyways great kill, sounds like a good race- i want some juice now lmao

Definitely. I believe his 12.4 was on street tires and my 11.9 was on Nittos. Tha cars trap the same so I think he'd be at least 11.9 with tires (maybe faster due to the torque of nitrous). I really think he would have pulled me a little if I hadn't sprayed since we trap the same and I had a passenger. Definitely makes me want to finish up my nitrous the right way and stop driving around with 700psi and hoping it's enough, lol.

Fixed. But the traps would certainly give a good indicator, as is shown in this case.
