My H/C WS6 vs. turbo 5.0 Fox..
The quick and dirty:
My car- '00 WS6 M6, LS6 heads, F13 cam & bolt-ons, 4.10's on DR's
Not my car- '87-93 notch M5, stock 5.0L, 76mm snail on 9-10psi
I was actually just about to leave a local hangout at about 2am when I was approached by a few fellas asking about my car. They asked if I was interested in running a friend in a turbo Fox, seeing as how up to that point the only interest of the night was a guido in a pink popped collar getting face slapped by a 14" black ***** (long story, news at 11..) I was more than ok. He shows up with a passenger and a camera and I'm hearing whisper of him running with a 600 on the highway moments earlier, so I'm thinking i'm in for an asswhopping My bottle is empty at this point so we swap a bottle out of another car, fight with different sized bottle nuts, fight with a heater than won't turn on only to find out..... it was switched off
.....and finally it was show time. I decided that although he wanted a 45+ roll (he's on 315 street tires) and I wanted a dig (275 Micket T's) we'd go for the middle and run a 25-roll. I also decided that I'd give it a go on the motor since I wanted to see how I'd fair with the squirt and without. So off to the highway we go, scout car calls from the next exit up and the coast is clear, chase cars give us the 'ok', creep up to 25mph and make sure the bottle is flicked 'off, V8's are humming at 3500-4000+ waiting for the hammer to drop untill finally he gives the 3 honk and we're on it!
For a moment all I hear is his wastegate screaming in my left ear but I notice him drop back a bit off the bat, I grab 2nd, scream the chicken up to 6600 and rip 3rd, check the mirror and his headlight are locked about a car or two back. Glance down at the tach and 6600 is comming up quick so into 4th we go and I'm just hoping the chicken has enough to hold off the snail-fed 5.0... and it does!
The video shows the evidence, he spins pretty wildly when the boost rolled up but once he hooked it was a pretty dead even hold, he might have even crept up a bit at the top of 4th but untill I see the vid on the PC we won't know. Either way it's an awfully fast car for such relativley little in mods. A good set of tires and I think we've got a good race on our hands! I did offer to run again at a higher roll but evidently the cooler weather was creating a little more boost than expected and his clutch was starting to slip so.. 'twas the end of the night, but well worth the waut
Cliffs: Ran the chicken vs. a boosted 5.0 pony, his horse needs better shoes lol!

Nah, he was done after that race since he encountered a little clutch slippage, just goes to show those old 5-liters can take some abuse! I'm sure on stiker tires or a higher roll it would've been a damn close one, I'm sure i'll get another chance w/ him soon though.
