Default 98 SS vs newer 600 bike?

I got a highway run vs a sports bike. It wasnt a full ledgit race, but it went like this;

I was entering the highway and I see this black sports bike( recent, maybe Honda; it had a triangle shaped rear red light and HID front light..all black) so I get on it and the guy follow.

We stop because traffic ahead. We cleared the traffic and after I see him in my mirror getting on it, I hit 3rd in the right speed and I'm waiting for the guy to pass me, shift 4h, the guy is still in my rear mirror(1.5 cars behind from the start), shift 5th, still got the bike behind till I shut it down at a very high speed... I'm like WTF!!

I take an exit and the bike follows me. I'm waiting to chat to him, but he would stay behind I wanted to ask what was the bike and if the guy was just playing.. But if I had been on his bike, I would have went at WOT and pass my slow SS

What do you guys think about the bike?...I did killed a 600 once N/A but it was not as recent as this bike...

He must have just been playin with you. still doesnt make sense why he didnt come talk to you. I had an '06 600rr (honda) and it didnt matter if it was from a dig or roll, that thing hauled. but i still loved racign cars on the highway, it wsa even more fun when they thought they could beat me, lol.

From what I hear (I do not ride bikes, this is opinion only), 600s tend to loose their steam up top, especially near 120 mph. If you went to 5th, that is assuming past 130 at least, I could see you still ahead. Could be bad rider as well. I have hung with 2 600's when I was stock due to bad rider. I am talking about 2-3 cars from a 40ish hit to 90. Riders can make a world of difference. ****, the other weekend I saw a 600 run a low 12 at like 112 or something at SIR. He launched to high, pulled his front tire, got side ways down the track, got back in it, and was in the rest of the track, not really shifting to fast either.

yes 600s do lose steam up top, but your not gonna pull a well ridden 600 with 400rwhp. he prob just went down to 3rd or 4th as well instead of dropping to 2nd like he should have.

Yeah, I'm thinking bad rider, or scared rider...but I wasnt impressed with this bike/rider. What trap speed they get with a good rider??

Off topic....Brian, I saw a car around my town that looked similar to yours, but possibly a different body kit...I thought I heard a turbo coming from it, but wasn't sure. Anyway, it made me think of this bad *** boosted GT with a body kit, but I couldn't remember you sn lol. You still lurking around here every now and then?

Sounds like a Yamaha .. R6 ? Based on the tail light and headlights u speak of. I raced a 600RR and kept up with it while boost creeping. he's a good rider and i have 490/575rwtq on a mustang dyno

ya, i has a srt8 jeep for min so i wasnt really into racing as much so stopped posting alot, but i just got a 03/04 cobra recently so have been catching up with everyone again ,lol

as for stock 600 trap speeds, most i see runnin trap 123-126, but a well ridden and shifted 600 with a 150-180lb rider can trap 128-132

Nice deal with the cobra. So did you sell the boosted GT?

I need to get a bike...I am light enough, so in good air and if I can ride, I could be one of these 130 mph 600's

Sounds good! I hung with a newer 600 back when I had my car. He had probably a bike on me when we were on it and never gained any on me.

Mods to cobra? Or you just run into a not so great rider, like most of us have at some point in time.

My stock 07 zx6 trapped 119.7 in 100* + temps with my 190lb *** on it. now im at 180, -1 in the front, k&N, gutted can. I walked my buddys 120+ trapping 5.3 swap mustang from a 60mph roll. I'm willing to grab 1st at the speed though

ya with those mods you should be capable of trapping mid 120s but i would never go from 1st at 60. one you would hafta shift in about .02 sec, and 2. if your bike doesnt wheelstand immediatly from that speed i would go see whats wrong with it!

Where are you guys seeing 130 traps for a 600? Maybe with a 100lb rider....

brian, its very difficult to get a 600 to wheelstand on power alone.
