Default What kind of M3 did i race???

Alright, so i got in a race with a BMW M3 tonight, but it looked different from all the others I've seen...The exhaust was in the center, but it was one big pipe on each side. The car sounded pretty sick too. If i had to guess, it was the 2005 model. The bottom rear where the exhaust is was all black as well...This is the shape of the exhaust pipes. (Disregard the year of this bmw, just look at the pipes) http://www.bmwblog.com/wp-content/up...5-spy-ring.jpg Rims were pretty cool and definitely from BMW. What was this thing? Maybe just a normal bmw m3 and he put the exhaust on it? Did they make any special looking models I'm unaware of?

As far as the race...We got side by side at 45 (Dead spot for me, i'm in an A4 formula) and got equal hits. I stayed right next to him from the beginning then just started pulling slowly. The longer the race, the harder i would pull. By the end of second i had a full car on him.

We had some low roll hits to, but i spin like crazy. On one of the runs i got "decent" traction and started pulling him pretty good from a 10 roll. I had a car by the end of first.

I will say it was quick though. He got the jump on me a few other times and i had to play catch up. It would take some time for me to stop his pull and start gaining on him again. The LS1 really does shine up top...I was impressed.

My car just has a cutout and a K&N FIPK. (Also a hypertech programmed tune that i need to get rid of)

Sounds like an E46. If you raced a newer M3, results may have been different.

I assume your talking about the V8 M3? Yeah, no way i would have beaten that...I think they have around 420hp and trap 112mph in the quarter...I would need some LT's, cam and nice tires to beat one of those...

Sounds like a modified E46.
Nice kill.

Have you guys ever seen exhaust on an E46 as i explained?

Seriously, they should consider making the car from the factory like this. It looked sick.

I used to have a e36 m3 but that thing wouldn't be able to run side by side with our car, so I'd say you ran e46 m3, stock they usually trap 13.3 to 13.5 about par with stock ls1, I doubt that the car that you race was modded(except for the exhaust), the mod parts for e46 aren't much and pricy

Few mods? I disagree

Pricey? Very

My buddy had a Blown E46 putting down 500rwhp. Granted the blower was over 10k alone.

I mean compared to ls1, when I got rid of my m3 and got the camaro I was really surprised with how many mods. There are for our car

I'm thinking about getting a stall for my car, but I'm just afraid of hurting the tranny...Car has 149k on it...Sucks to be paranoid, lol...

Regardless, I'm going to get some LT's. I just need to find the right price and don't know where to shop...

sounds like a e46 m3 is qwk but you should be able to squeeze by him with a ls1

good kill

gotta watch out for the m5's though... the ones from 2000 and newer are just beasts on the highway.

Could have raced a rare e46 CSL....which has different exhaust and wheels, along with some serious weight reduction. It's basically a production race car, but they are pretty rare to find on the streets. A small badge on the trunk denoting CSL would give it away.

That would be VERY slim chance as they never came to the us and are less common here than skylines
