I got mauled by an RX7
This happend awhile ago just never got to posting it up. A good buddy and I went to go get our cars dynoed about 45 min away from where we live after we got our cars dynoed we decided to do a little run to see how we stood.
His car is a single turbo 93ish RX7 67mm 20psi, 3 in full exhaust, D/R etc.. I dont know my elbow from my dick when it comes to rotarys but it's a runner for sure. He ran 11.4X @ 124 at KCIR a couple weeks earlier.
My car was on motor my mod's are in my sig, the year before I previously dynoed 415rwhp on the exact same dyno we were going to.
His car dynoed right at 400whp, My car wasnt running for ****, super rich but safe enough to run it, it made 383rwhp so I was down about 30-40~rwhp.
I knew he was going to beat me but HOLY ****.
We pulled out onto a service road, crusing about 20~25mph, I 3-honked and took off, I DEAD hooked on my 28in mickey D/R's and pull about a half a car, shift into second, and.... dun dun dun...
BRRRAPP....(fireball)..BRAAAAAAAAPP....(Fireball). .brappbrapppp gurggle gurrgle(flames).
By the top of my second gear, he was 5-6 car's ahead AND on the brakes already. After I finally picked my jaw up off the floor, I gave him a thumbs up. He yelled out the window..."hey at least your cars louder than mine" we parted are way's and headed home. I figured he was going to beat me but I didnt expect it like that.
-I just wish I was tuned and had my 100hp jets-in...Since he's a good friend of mine we'll run em' again.
CLIFFS: my 3800lb 383rwhp Firebird, get raped by a 2900lb 400whp RX7.

Those RX7's can be badass little cars for sure! Good death, the hp is close, but the trap speeds tell the real story. I'm looking forward to the rematch with the nitrous, should be close!

The RX8 is slow IMHO. Especially stock. There is a lowered blue one around here that has a catback that revs at me all the time. He looks like a total douchebag. I'm afraid he'd do something stupid when I flew past him. Most run 14.8 to 15.1 in the 1/4. I've hear of one that actually hit 14.5, but that's the fastest. Even small turbo'd ones aren't that fast. Shame, it's a sweet looking car. I love the rotary. I hate dumbasses that claim their rotary doesn't use any oil. I tell them they are full of ****. Rotaries use oil like it's their business. The RX7 however is a different beast, and can be made to go series fast from what I seen.
I almost bought a RX8 last year. Then I hear how slow they were, and how $$$ it costs to get them in the 13s.
One of my best friends is certified to work on Rotaries. He tells me of all kinds of crazy RXx stories.

The guy I bought my TA from sold it because he had just upgraded the turbo he had on his and blew it half way to work the next day. Sold the TA to pay for a new engine. He kept talking about some import 3 rotor engine that wasn't available in the US that he was doing. Nice cars, but I know nothing about them.

Even on the 100 shot he will skull drag you... You will need something like 600rwhp IMO to beat him. Rx7's make 400hp but they make it from 5krpm's to 8500 rpm's, and it weighs 1000lbs less than you.

Unless the dude in the rx7 just wasn't gettin any traction at all in the first 1/8 of the track, it wouldn't take more than 500/500 to run with it in a full weight car.

Unless the dude in the rx7 just wasn't gettin any traction at all in the first 1/8 of the track, it wouldn't take more than 500/500 to run with it in a full weight car.

-I trapped 116 with 415rwhp, on the race with the rx7 my car probably would have trapped 112-113 TOPS with the power I was making. His 124 trap compared to my probable 113 trap makes complete sense why I got **** pounded.
-I dynoed 522 on a 100shot, last year.
And that makes me think I should be able to beat him on my 100 shot, I trapped 127 on it, my motor is built for nitrous and really love's is. With 1 7/8 and a fast/92/92 set-up it really likes the giggle gas on the big end.
I just need to get it re-tuned. To bad it's mid-winter with a foot of snow out.
