02 z28 vs 2010 ss a6
Had a little fun with a z28 yesterday on my way back from Tulsa on i44.
I went flying by him at about 100mph and he caught up and we lined up and had a few fun pulls for about 40 miles.
Did a couple 100-130mph pulls, everytime I pulled away solidly.
Also did a couple 70-130 and again I pulled away solidly.
Not sure if he had any work done, exhaust sounded like it wasn't stock, was a nice z28 too. Was pretty fun.
I wasn't shifting very aggressively in paddleshifters, was starting out in 4th at about 80~ and he'd jump ahead up until about 100 and that's when I'd catch up and I'd be about 3-4 cars infront by 120 and even more by 130, and then by 140 he was just a long ways back.
Not sure how the 2002s run, but I guess they're not very high end...? Again at about 110mph his car just seemed to pull the e brake and i'd go flying by.

He didn't let off. I could hear his engine he was trying. Car to the max.
I'm in Norman OK. I'm going back to Tulsa on Wed. and I'm always around OKC/Moore.

How do you know its an 02 Z28? I dont see you mention anything about talking with the guy afterwords. I just found that odd that you mentioned that....
01-02's came with the ls6 intake manifolds, 98-00's came with the ls1 intakes. So im sure there's quite a bit of difference in top end power there. M6's also came with 2.73 gearing as well, unless for some reason M6's were always 3.23's & up. Which i doubt it....
I think QuickSilver meant that the guy probably let off after you got ahead to a certain point, while you kept going.

^^ why do i constantly see people making excuses for others getting killed - youre splitting hairs about the ls6 - ls1 intake. its around 15 hp difference. m6 cars came with 3.42 gears not 323's - that was the a4 gu5 performance package. if someone for some godawful reason custom ordered 2.73's with a m6 i guess it is possible but not likely. good kill OP..

I know he had rectangular dual exhaust tips if that helps any.

LT1 Z28's were the only Camaro's to have the rectangular exhaust outlets: they came over from the vettes that had them when they too got the LT1. LS1 cars never had rectangular, it was either single or dual round outlets? Think that changed with the years, or maybe the SS models had the dual outlets and the Z28 had the single? something like that.
So you raced a LT1 Z28. Does help explain how you beat him up top: the LS1's are notorious topend cars, while the LT1 cars had the large midrange grunt but didnt rev out nearly as well as the LS1's did. Probably a 1997 model with the 285rwhp engine: would be a good run for you below 100mph seeing as how you are a lowered powered auto SS.
^^ Time for a tune at least, isn't it? That should wake it up decently all by itself.

imo i dont think there is a way that you could have beatin him THAT badly. The 2010 camaros run about the same as the 1998-2002 camaros in the 1/4 and they are lighter than the 5th gens. If you did beat him it was only about a car or 2 that or didnt know how to shift quickly enough

Haha. I wasn't trying to race. I was trying to get home as fast as I could and I flew by him and he caught up and started revving me at 100. As I downshifted and slowed down he kept going and stuck his hand out the window to catch up and that's where it all started.
