Couldnt agree with you more!!! If Vipers are at the top of the food chain then how come no professional race team has yet to make them a top choice for a performance vehicle . As I recall Dodge Vipers finish LAST in the American Le Mans Series, and if the GTR is so great and dandy then get them out and run Sebring, Road America, or the 24 Hour of LeMans against the big boys. :biggun2:

Sorry...Didnt mean to stir the pot with my top of the food chain comment
Vipers and Supras have been tradeing six speed 1/4 mile records now for years. The FGT AND GALLARDO ARE NO WERE EVEN CLOSE 1/4 MILE WISE.
As of right now the fastest 1/4 mile six speed cars are vipers. But the Supra is ALWAYS only a tenth or two behind and at some point they will flip flop again.
Vipers can also drive around at 1000 rwhp on pump gas. And get around 2000 rwhp on race with big builds.
Because of the pump gas capabilities and current six speed 1/4 mile record holder status I said what I said. ut you guys are right...The mile is quickly becoming more important than the 1/4 mile for bragging rights and the fastest viper is only around 240 mph...sad compared to its competitors

I don't know about in recent years but what I do know is the Viper accomplished quite a bit in its first 7 years of production: Class Winner at LeMans, 4 FIA championships, American LeMans Championship (24hr of Daytona), and a 3rd straight LeMans Class win in 2000. I don't keep up with the Gen III & IV Vipers much but I know the first two generations were bad ***.

Im always amazed when people dont realize that the Viper is the dominant force in road raceing. The only reason it took a HIATUS from the early 2000's till 07 Is because the viper kicked so much *** at the major events that they kept putting more and more rescrictions on the car to make it more fair for the other cars.
Im very proud of its racing history as well as acomplishments today. Honestly here it is 3 years later and the ZR1 guys are still talking about how with differant tires they will be able to match the Viper and the GTR guys are talking about with the 2012 GTR they will surpass the ZR1 and give the Viper a run. 7.22 at the ring for a street legal production car is just sickening.

regular production viper is currently leading the way at just about every track out there from the ring to secca. The ACR is a street legal bastard that has just raped everything on ANY road course from the GTR and ZR1 to the superlegerra and Big Lambo.

All of which absolutely destroy any viper around a track.

I was just going to bring up the Porsche 911 GT2 RS which went around the Nurburgring at 7:18 whereas the ACR was at 7:22 I believe. Non the less, that ACR is bad ***, but all these top manufactures are constantly outdoing each other so their is no long term champion.

Guys dont be fooled by the porshe. It is not valid and was used as a marketing tool to attract porsche customers.
They divided the ring up into 8 parts and then had the p car run each part in a timed fashion and then combined all the times and said the P car ran the 7.18. So basically they cpould run each timed session as many times as they wanted till they got their fastest and then combine all the fastest times for the 7.18.
TOTAL BULLSHIT. The VIPER VETTE and GTR all went the full ring to run their times. Pretty lame by Porshe and no one counts that as valid.

I agree with you Killemall on everything except what's in bold. The Viper may be faster than the ZR1 around the ring but surely its not a "raping". Im not sure on the exact times for both but its gotta be VERY close!
But yes the Viper is an amazing machine and its a too bad so many people have to hate on it.

This just happenned last month at Miller. The previous record was held by a ZR1 at 2.03 seconds. A stock ACR raped the record with a 1.59..Thats 4 seconds on a 2 minute track. That is a rapeing..

ZR1 still holds the 1/4 mile record for any American production vehicle. 10.7@133. I think the ACR is right behind at 10.9@130.
