with that being said, he isn't making all that much power. i watched 2 cars i personally laid hands on trap 130+ on the stock 10 bolt for years haha. and autos aren't *that hard on the rear if they don't wheelhop. i've seen 10 bolts go 1.3s a few times and 1.4s a lot.

he thinks going from 323s to a 390 in his fi car is going to pick up something crazy.

Not saying it cant be done, but even with heads and cam I wouldn't run a 10 bolt. Id prefer the peace of mind knowing I can flog it and know it wont break lol

every power/drive train portion of a factory stock car is "on borrowed time" once upgrades begin.

i agree it's on borrowed time. i made roughly 350 track passes, over 100 i know for sure at or below 1.65 60', and put 50k miles on the 10 bolt that was in my car. it even had 373 gears. i sold the car 3 years ago and it's STILL on the same rear with lord knows how many more passes and miles. nitrous, autox, you name it. i couldn't justify the cost of a 9" (to do it right). **** i could've replaced that 10 bolt like 20 times haha.

This is also true, heck I'd take a turbo for 3k lol

Ohioborn you still have to take in account the labor even though it was free on all your mod work, considering you didnt do it all. You have a sweet car man, and I'm glad you made it home save. I'm headed back in July, will be my fourth deployment.

I do all my own car work, Id much prefer do it my self and take a weeks time then drop 2k on labor, but thats just me. To each his own.
Oh and be safe my friend, Thanks for defending our country!

If the labor is free, why would he count it lol Everyone COULD learn to mod their cars and save a TON of money, but their time is worth more to them then the money.

Truth be told, its a pretty boring Saturday for me, and not much action going on in the forums haha

For me I didn't have a lot of free time to do all the labor. I am gone more then I am home. Be it deployed or just regular work. I am a mechanic at work also. Well not really any more since I am a plattoon sergeant. I do more organization then anything.

No you don't. don't even be silly and lie. Im also pretty sure you paid more for your FI setup than he did his head/cam and nitrous.

Everyone always tells me about turbos.. Its so much more complicated than that.
My 2003 can run safely at 700 rwhp and anything past 750 rwhp on stock internals is just asking for it. In my case I personally wouldnt run past 720 rwhp.
I was thinking of getting a new kit that just came out for 9k. Its a single and 700 rwhp on a stock car. 750 plus on my car but would be detuned to 700 rwhp for my needs.
Forgeing my engine is 15k for parts shipping and labor. 1500 rwhp capable but thats a good chunk of coin.
So like I said Im limited to 700 rwhp.
Would you want a turbo viper at an embarrassing 700 rwhp when everyone elses turbo viper is 900-1800 rwhp?
Or a head and cammed 650 PLUS rwhp viper that is as sick as any naturally asperated engine on any car out there?
My new cam that should put me at 550-600 rwhp is almost installed. Heads and headers next year and shes done.
Since Im limited to a measly 700 Id rather get there naturally asperated than turboed any day of the week.
700 rwhp turboed viper=slowest turbo viper in the country (no thanks)

Come on man, you could resist something like that sound?
I thought your wife was cool with you buying a used Gallardo? Maybe the extra cash spent on that could be used for forged internals and a turbo system. Think about it
