shut down a 92 gt
so today on the drive to work im in my 01 ss with full bolt ons and i noticed a fairly aggressive grey 92 foxbody a few cars ahead of me with a nice sounding exhaust. so i speed up and passed him and gave him a friendly rev as i did, and as soon as there was a straight clearing we both hit it, only for about an 1/8th tho but the victor was clear, from the start i was pulling hard. then we got stuck in traffic for awhile and i thought he had given up but every stoplight this dude is reving the **** out of his stang behind me and doing burnouts, so im like does he not know that he lost? we finally get another clear straight away, a long 3 lane road that goes straight for 2 miles next to my navy base. he gets next to me and i notice his buddy recording on his phone, and i see him downshift and watching his tach waiting for me to hit it, so i gave the signal and we both went for it, but again i dont know what he expected, by 100 i was at least a bus and a half ahead and pulling hard, but this wasnt enough for the kid, after slowing down he wanted to go again, he tried the flyby so i let him go and hit it again, easily passing him and this time i shut it down around 130 ( road was wide open ) at which point he was a small defeated ford dot in my mirror. either he was having fun or needed another ls1 lesson either way i had fun.

The kid probably got the car from his old man, and welp, you know how alot of ford guys are. He more than likely has no idea what an LS engine is, and has no idea what a 4th gen Camaro looks like. I can hear it now " dad, I think I just got beat by one of those IROC's you said were really slow".
The old 5.0 mustangs (fox body) have held an odd distinction as the car to have to whipe the floor with everything else when new, then it was a car you would never underestimate at a stoplite becuase of the cheap mods, now they are owned by kids who think it's still 1988.

Wrong, there is a bolt on Fox with the stock cam, intake, and heads that is running mid 12's. And this isn't anything new...it's all in the combination on the pushrod Fords. Reason is there are SO many options, and most are bad choices IMO.
