Default 98 ws6 vs 07 STI

Well guys my buddy sold his 350z and came home with an 07 STI, so naturally I wanted to see what it was made of. Finally got a chance today, we went to this dead end street near my house, honestly close to a mile long with nothing around. We decided on a 20 roll, the car was new to him and he didn't want to start launching it just yet and i'm not trying to fry my tires so I was fine with it.

First Race: I let him honk it out. I jumped as soon as I heard it and stayed about a car ahead and started to pull.

Second Race: Told him how to brake boost and said I would honk it off this time. Much better race, he was next to my door through the rest of 1st and part of second. It was awesome hearing the turbo spool and BOV chirping. By 3rd I was a car to a car and a half ahead.

His mods: Aftermarket intake and BOV, NVIDIA turboback exhaust

My Mods: Lid, Borla Catback, Free mods

Do it from a dig once he gets use to launching it and then report back.

im meaning from a roll, lots of torque from low speeds, but nothing up high.. unfortunately im the only *** around with an ls1 camaro, so 4 of my buddies all have the exact same car, 05 cobb stage 2 sti, 04 cobb stage 2 sti + up pipe, 07 cobb stage 2 sti, and another black sti with i forgot what mods...

now given i make much, MUCH more power than them, i give them the jump from dig races pull 5-6 cars (if i can remember correctly) by 110mph, from a 30-40 roll, they have absolutely no chance, ill have bus lengths on them by 120 mph lol.

all im saying is that, under 60mph, they feel, and go like rocket ships, as soon as they hit that magic number its like it all disappears?

iunno id just think OP should have more than a car on a basically stock sti. cause i know stage 2 sti's are full exhaust with DP and a tune, and they run high 12s

When you say stages I think he said his was stage 2? Idk I honestly didn't think i would beat him, test times put him right around stock ls1 quarter times and it is a lighter car with AWD. Either way I'm glad I have him around, gives me a good benchmark once I start doing some real modding.

AWD = bad for roll racing

Please fill everyone in. Please don't say drivetrain loss, because everyone else does, and that makes no sense.

Drivetrain loss is besides the point. They simply don't put down the HP in stockish form.

So from a roll, u are racing a sub 280hp equal weight car turnin all 4 wheels.

I have a vid of what my slobalt did to one.
In stock form, they are dig cars. High rolls, they just don't make the HP per LB.

Not minimining the post, good kill. But tell your buddy to gets to modding if he wants to run with you and when he gets some launches under his belt, be ready for him to jump out a few cars with u playing catch up.

This is interesting, I have a friend with a stage 2 wrx and I hang right with him at all times, does this mean my lt1 might turn a low 13 sec with traction in its current state!?!?! I hope so lol
