Default H/C C5 vs Yamaha R6

Wanted to see how well my C5 could hang with my R6, so my bro (145lb and very experienced rider) hopped on the bike and I had a friend co-piloting with the video cam in the car.
This run we both start in first gear at a 20 roll, I let off at 130-135 in 4th. The bike got about 2.5 car lengths ahead before I stopped it's pull. We were quite surprised how well the car stuck to it. We also did a couple 2nd gear rolls, 55-140 and the bike got ahead by 1.5 - 2 lengths.
For those who want to know the R6 is stock, rated 120hp, weighs 365 lbs, runs 11.2-11.3 quarter mile at 121-123mph.

Correction- the R6 has -1 tooth front sprocket.

My C5 put down 430whp/400wtq, has stock gearing and is full weight.

Your brother needs to learn how to tuck properly. Makes a big difference at higher speeds. Good runs nonetheless.

?? I stopped the bike's pull by 130 which is only half way thru my 4th gear. If it weren't so windy that day we would've been able to run higher and the car would've been reeling the bike in at the top of 4th, in 5th the bike would've been toast
Remember this was a 1st gear 20mph roll. The higher the roll, the less advantage for the bike.

Nice video, man, but I'm curious as to why he was on the rear brake partway through the run.

There's definitely a good amount of performance left in that bike, but it looks like fun regardless!

He had his foot floating over the rear brake pedal (I’m guessing due to the gusty wind conditions) and accidently slightly tapped the pedal a couple times. But not enough to add pressure.
It was windy and gusting pretty hard that day so he had a good amount of concentration on that alone, as any good rider would know how that can have an effect. Of course he could’ve tucked better, by no means is he some sort of pro racer but he has been riding for 14 years and did stunt riding professionally for 5. I’m just saying the dude knows how to handle a bike.

No that race definitely went as expected, with him at 430hp its gonna be tough to come around the bike anywhere before 150 or so.

my gto made 445whp na.... no 600cc bike could even attempt to hang with me passed 120mph. Ive raced a lot of bikes. A lot of different bikes. Fastest one I raced was a built to **** 03 gsxr600 (cammed etc). light rider, good rider. After 120, it was a solid few bus lengths of a pull to 150. I never saw him lose to another 600, even newer ones. Next time the op should start from a second gear roll or so. Its tough to match a bike down low like that.

Especially a bike with sprockets. I have street tires too, traction control was on all thru 1st and some in 2nd. We did do a couple 2nd gear 55 rolls, to 135 the bike only got 1.5-2 lengths. I definitely could use a gear to optimize performance but I'm happy with my toy and I really enjoy the 30+ highway mpg. Stock gearing is looong for sure, 1st=57, 2nd=85, 3rd=116, 4th=151

No 600cc bikes could attempt to hang with you after 120 and the fastest you raced is a 03? Who race after 120???!! 1000rwhp Supra LOL So you start the roll at 80??
..and I'm sure newer 600(08+) would have destroyed you. Even more if you have short gearing like you tell OP to get cause longer gears really shine when you need the 4th to have a longer powerband on higher speed roll. 5th speed suck on GTO/fbody unless maybe not with 4:10.

What gear?

*edit* I really like my stock 3:42 for MPG too and less shifting around town when not racing.

My gto was an auto with 3.46 gears in the back. Did you happen to read what i wrote about how that bike beat newer 600s... as in 08+. The fact that it was an all out race bike. I said that it was the FASTEST 600 i raced... not the newest. And when your cars start getting fast... 120mph come up really quickly. And to answer your question as to who races passed 120.... well... anyone who has a car that traps north of 120mph tends to do that. 120mph isnt exactly a fast speed. And if you have gearing like my boss, fifth gear is no slouch gear. It pulls just as hard as fourth gear.... if not harder. After all, its 1:1. And when using 4.10s in any half way decent power ls car, you WILL use fifth gear on the roll. Heres a video of me racing that bike. It was a 50 roll. We werent sure how we were gonna organize the beeping, so he said he would give me the hit, i intentionally boggled on my gas pedal to let him know i was going but without getting a big hit on him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEYpg...4&feature=plcp

Race was from 50-150mph... it took all of 14 seconds to get there. It would have been about an 8 second race if we let out at 120. When you hear what sounds like me shifting into OD, its not. Its converter lockup at 130mph

P.S. I really hope you dont think it takes 1000whp to race above 120mph. Sigh..

let me also apologize to the OP for hijacking the thread. My advice is to grab some 4.10s. There is NO disadvantage to doing that. The people saying they will hurt you on the highway do not understand that it will give you another power gear (5th). Races dont end at 4th gear. Your car will gaine acceleration in every gear prior to fifth as well.

Honestly, I just realized I read quickly and fucked with my math about converting km/h to mph, sorry about that.
