Default Finally ran a new 5.0 ......and lost !

So I finally ran a new 5.0 this Sunday . Needless to say it didn't go my way ! Even though I lost I'm just glad I finally got a run with one so it's all good !

Took forever to get a descent race with him , I tried to get a 50 roll but he slows to 30 mph and jumps the gun or traffic got in the way the first 2 attempts, finally get a clear spot to run and he wants to practically come to a dead stop rollin at like 5/10 mph and I don't go for it ,way dangerous on a highway so I stay at 20 (still dangerous !) and motion for him to come up and get even , he does and I honk it off . He get's the initial hit ,but I'm not saying he jumped the gun and I get a little bit of wheelspin ,nothing major and kept my front bumper right at his rear fender till 125 where I let off. He kept on the gas and put's his hazard's on ,lol !

Got to the spot where everyone was meeting and found out from a mutual friend that it had a tune , Boss intake and manifold and factory headers . Figured it had something when I saw the Livernois Motorsports plate on it !

He had no passenger I had one that couldn't be more than 140 so it doesn't really matter and I'm guessing it had 3.73s as well because he seemed to shift exactly when I would but neither of us would fall back or lose pace after shifting !

Long story I know , Sorry !

If a rematch happens it probably would be a similar result cause it was an even start and I only let off cause I don't really like going into 5th and trying to push it till 150 in a race ! Don't think I would of pulled on him and it didn't look like he was going anywhere either !

Deffinately a honorable death, sounds like he was m6 w/ driver mod too? I'm thinking your car has the parts to pull a 5.0 plus him getting the hit at your level really starts to make a big difference. No matter on the details its typical street race.
Its funny how you can tell when other cars want to start the race off in their sweet spot over being relatively safe. I don't slow down on the freeway like that other drivers will get pissed, and call you in.

You aint kidding ! Witnessed that before and also heard my car along with some others reported over the police scanner ! Definitely going to try and play it safe and be a little smarter this year ! Lot's of horror stories lately , not trying to be the next one ! He definitely wanted to go at his preffered speed . Definitely a m6 and he had no issues shifting from what I could see.(front end would barely move/drop when he shifted )He would not go from 50 at all and I really wanted to run it so I took the bait !

If his car has that many mods then it was definitely a good death.

I don't approve of putting your hazzard lights on after a win; especially if you are racing a stranger.

Seems kinda weird to me, but good death. In all honesty your car with afr 205 heads and a smallish cam should be trapping around 120+ and should have been a slow pull on him.

I agree with all those mods you should be pulling him at least slowly. But who knows maybe he was a better driver, got the hit, etc.... INB4 people saying that the tune, boss intake car will trap 120.....

i agree you should have pulled him fairly well. By the sounds of it, he has a stock exhaust system with a tune and boss intake manifold. Probably a 115mph car. I would hope your setup is more potent then that

I know my dads 5.0 with al driveshaft and 3.73's M6 from a 60 roll against my cam only ta. I give him the hit and had a car on him by 120. It takes quite a bit to overcome the hit. So if he did get a small jump and you trap 5mph higher it will be a sloww pull back around him. Either way the race happened and we seen it on vid, so don't know what to tell ya.

Good run. A 50 roll is a bad spot for his gearing if he had 3.73's. He should trap between 115-118 depending on where he has shift points and DA etc. Simply comparing to mine and other cars with same basic mods. They range to where racing at. As said between 116-118. Maybe he had an off road x pipe also that help him gain decent whp for such simple bolt on.

If you only put down 414 I guess I could see it being a drivers race with a bolt on tune one but the question is why did you only put down 414 being heads and cam car? Your torque seems low to me as well but I have been out of the game for a few years.

Trapped 112 with shitty tires and a soft launch last time at the track. My friend who has similar mods beside's stock heads, fast 102 with ms3 cam,big stall and spray traps about 120 on dr's if I recall at the same track .Considering that I pretty much hung right next to him after the initial wheelspin from 20 to 125 I think it was a pretty even race.Neither of us would really gain any ground between shifts .I didnt miss a shift and neither did he so driver mod wasnt it.If it was from a dig than that would definitely come into play but not so much from a roll . Ohioborn80 why is a 50 roll so bad ? seems fine for me with 373s . Evangto87 I should of have just said midlength headers my bad.someone there was telling me they came with headers so that threw me for a loop.Sounds fishy to me , never heard of a car with headers off the showroom floor. Necrocannibal I can't explain my numbers they were on a stingy dynapack and they are the sae corrected numbers. Made about 430 hp and 413 tq uncorrected from what I recall .

Both you and you friends cars trap an incredibly low MPH. Just the other day on here a cam only setup trapped 121 with full interior... For a H/C/I and spray to trap less than that is embarrassing. Your trap speed is 1mph more than what a friend trapped in his Lid/ported TB full interior ss. So yeah.

Its the tranny gearing. A 50 for me with my 3.73's was really high 2nd gear or really low 3rd. High enough in 2nd that if you punched it you had to shift basically same time. Depending on tune it may be worse for him or better. With boss intake I bet he is around least 6800rpms at 50. Stock redline is only 7000. Most tuners for can tune only move up to 7300.

Friends car has stock heads.Ran a 10.9 best run at 126 a while back on 100 shot with the nano kit.Actually just got a text from him and the guy with the 5.0 wants to run again.Ill try to get it filmed but I dont want to roll with a passenger.lol.I imagine by the time it happens he will do something else to the car and its gonna be even worse for me ! We will see what happens ! Not worried about it !
