Default Intake/longtube LS2 GTO vs built 347 stroker 94 cobra

Heres a vid of another local mustang guy. Him and a few of his buddies were deadset on the fact that his cobra would eat the GTO alive after they had thier dreams smashed when the GTO took the eaton swapped mach 1. Needless to say, the GTO is making quite a name for itself here in town.

2006 GTO M6: svede intake, kooks catted 1 7/8" longtubes, tune

1994 cobra M5: built 347 stroker, ported trick flow heads, cam, aftermarket intake manifold, etc.

GTO put down 371 RWHP before the longtubes. Cobra made 402 RWHP...on paper the cobra should be quicker. Don't know what happened. Have to say, it is a pretty clean and nasty looking cobra!

it's because both his window's was down.. act's like a parachute... or was it because he dyno'd on a far gracious dyno.. the way you pulled looked like you trap 4-5mph more then him with 31 less rwhp.. something isn't adding up there

Def must have been the tune settling.

As far as dynos, both were on a dynojet...but at different locations. He can use the driver mod but he's not as bad as the mach 1 guy was.

GTO windows were down too I thought....unless you were joking, lol. And damn, you nailed the mph difference. When this race took place, we were on the way to the strip. GTO trapped 113 mph and the stang trapped 108 mph. Like I said, not sure what happened. He didn't touch the setup since he had it dynoed....we did notice it was blowing a bit of black smoke under WOT. Not sure if thats a possible rich issue, but it runs great so I don't think anything is up with it.

Yes...there a problem with that or something? I've seen a few that have trapped very well with bolt ons.

Haha, yea....we didn't get it either. Oh well, thats the price you pay for trying to work with old *** technology and fuel injection. Sometimes it runs good, other times it doesn't. Thats why I ditched my TPI for some LSx power in my 3rd gen!

Good kill! That is a clean Cobra, I've always been a fan of the 94-98 style.

Awesome job at the track too, now he just needs tires, lol.

I think that describes most of the 347's that are out there. It seems to be one of the easiest and most common motors to build wrong, for whatever reason.

Oh, and the Cobra badge on the fender is backwards, lol. Like stated above, looks like a GT with heads, intake and and a b cam.

Two things. 1) 113 trap out of a bolt on gto is not strange or unbelievable. I don't know why people get butthurt about that. 2) that mustang is not making that hp, sorry.

Im interested in knowing how the LS2 put down 371 basically stock. I have a friend with an 06 GTO that made 340 bone stock which is the norm for a LS2.
I just got done reading where GM HighTech Performance just did LTs & CAI on a LS2 GTO & made 375.9/372.7
My 6.0 just made 380/380 (mods in sig)
My Buddys 02 Z06 with LG LT's, Vararam, 3.90s & tune made 371rwhp

Good Kill though!

Its base line numbers dude, dynos can throw out all kinds of numbers. No two cars are the same.

That mustang should be an 11.40 car at full weight. Car looked ******* though. Got raped though.

bet he is closer to 320-340 hp. 400rwhp isnt the norm out of a 347. It can definately be done but not that guy.
