Default 02 SS vs 06 Charger SRT8

02 SS A4: SLP Air Lid, 2XLS1 Tune, DW301 fuel pump, ported throttle body
06 Charger SRT8: AFE Stg 2 Intake, gutted cats, muffler delete,170 thermostat, Diablo Predator tuner

This is a buddy of mines car, we were hanging out last night and decided to give it a go. Were going to try and get both cars to the track here soon.

1st Race: 45 roll. He honked, go on third honk. I jumped the start just a hair due to trying to anticipate my trans downshifting. At 110 I had about a car to a car and a half on him and still pulling.

2nd Race: Dig run, I honked. Go on third honk. I jumped out about a car on the launch and held it to about 100 before I had to let out because the stretch of road we were on was to short to be able to brake much after 100.

All in all good runs, really kind of suprised me. I expected it to be alot closer.

Good runs.

Hold a gear for rolls. Don't be caught slipping (possibly literally ) waiting for the kick down. Hold second, punch it, slide to D (not 3, D, 3 engages overrun clutches for braking, your fluid has better **** to do). Also consider not doing rolls over 20MPH. I like to keep my rolls to 10 and 15MPH rolls. This way the shitty M6 launchers are rolling and cant complain about how hard it is to launch and you'll still be in plenty of your much needed 3.06:1 1st gear. Starting out in 1.63:1 second is asking for an *** whupping. Especially against M6s and all the A5s, A6s and now A8s of the world. You need that torque converters maximum multiplication and that first gear. A4s of the world unite, stop this 40 roll bullshit. M6s wont start out in 3rd for you at 40 (which is pretty close to the ratio you'll be in) so why should you.

/2 cents

(Edit: BTW, Im aware the Charger is an A5, just soap boxing a bit )

Diablo tuner is like -100hp.

If he had a real tune he would've raped you.

With a diablo tune? He's going to lose because he's going to blow up his motor.

I do admit a diablo tune does make a difference but for a good or decent tune he needs a custom tune from Johan or a reputable tuner, CMS is also very popular. Also if he doesnt already mention to him to install a catch can for sure, the oil in the intake manifold is a disaster and one will argue timing is pulled due to its vapors as its burning off, ofcourse alot of oil is still left in there. After my catch can install my car does not ping anymore. Either way he didnt have enough power and lost, good kill OP.

Nice Kill, With your mods and his mods it should have definitely been closer but thats not always the case because all cars run different. I have pulled full bolt on and tuned M6 LS1's from a roll and dig and then ran dead even with a bone stock 98 M6 SS. You just never know

I always hate saying this because I always feel like I sound like a royal douche. However, Ive always felt as if my car runs a little harder than it "should". Ive ran similarly modded and a couple of full bolt on M6 cars and pulled on them. Like you said, they all run different. Im interested to see what mine runs as it sits and what'll run once I get off my *** and put my headers and exhaust on (slp tuned lengths, slp catted y, slp loudmouth 2). Also it may be time for a rear end swap, mine started making some strange noises yesterday.

Lol small world, I raced bryan and posted the vid on here too. Did you try to race james car? Those srt8s seem to run more consistent than fbodies, at least the one I've raced

Nice runs. Did your car have the 345 package? Your car is likely stronger than others if you came lid/cat back stock.
