LS1 GTO Vs Cobra - Place your bets
Quick story:
Last saturday i was going to run a buddy with an 03 Cobra after a local car show. Well as luck would have it, there was 2 other guys there that had a cobra and a GTO and they wanted to run! So my buddy ran the cobra with his, and i ran the gto with mine (LS2). He stayed neck and neck with the other cobra, but beat it. I absolutley destroyed the other GTO. HAve vids of all the runs. We didnt run due to me having clutch issues, witch are now fixed.
This saturday we are running em, and i want to get the thread started early.
GTO mods : LS1, Ported/decked 243`s, Large cam, ported TB, LT`s and full catless exhuast, 25% UDP, 3:91`s, Vararam, tuned, and i shift @ 6,800rpm, short shifter and i weigh in about 3,580lbs w/o me. Running on some very bald 245/18 NT01`s
Cobra: 03 Pullied/ catback cobra on stock tune, i BELIEVE he is full weight, with some 315/18 555r`s. Both are 6spd cars.
We will be doing a few digs and a few rolls, what do you all think? Im estimating im around 440rwhp, he is most likley close aswell.
Im pretty sure i can pull out a W from however we race.

Pullied/intake cobra on a stock tune is not happening. The car would run worse then it did stock if it ran for any length of time at all. If hes tuned and around the same weight it "should" be a good run. Just keep in mind "pullied" is such a relative word thrown around, there are pullied cobras ranging from 415rwhp-480rwp.

My bet is on you whether the cobra is tuned or not. Youtube made that car the killer that it is... but mainly because most of the cars they raced were built wrong or just driver error. They can be quick cars done right. But a catback/pulley/air intake/tune.... to me is a good race for a 115mph car.

so which car are you racing? The mystic vert? Your buddies? or some other cobra?

Im racing the one that took the vid. It was slightley faster the the Mystic VERT, and IMO it SHOULD have been much faster than the vert, as the camera car was pullied/exhuast and short shifter, the Vert was exhaust only. Not sure how ford is, but normally a convertible is heavier, and it should have had less power.
The vid of the GTO my car is no were near its potential. You can CLEARLY see the super slow shifts, and i didnt hook for all of 1st and half of second. Plus i was shifting at 6,200 instead of 7,000. That was before my ported LS6 heads BTW, witch are being installed tomorrow.

We will see if your right. I belive my car runs very well for all ive got into it. Hell, the UDP and headers cost more than my H/C rofl. My cam is large for an LS1, 236/240 .598/.608 on a 113 LSA, and im hoping that the stock heads with 10-1 compression were really holding it back. WIth the new ported heads ill be around 11:1 and have ported ls6 heads lol
