Default Turbo 5.3 3rd gen TA vs intake/header/tune 6.0 GTO **VID**

Just got my 86 TA tuned on 11 psi and figured what better way to see how fast it is than to line it up with a known consistent car.

My brothers GTO has gone 12.4 @ 114 mph in the 1/4. This was purely for fun since we knew the outcome.

My trans am has a stock bottom end turbo 5.3 and just put down 563 RWHP on 11 psi. Can't wait to start running some faster cars now!

BTW, we both start in 3rd and my tires just burn when I hit boost, so I lift and shift 4th. Thats when the pulling starts lol.

So badass. How does it sound at idle? Any chance of having a sleeper aspect around the street?

Thanks guys! Got a few minor things to do to it and then I'm really going to start looking for some better matched cars to run. I want to find a stock or mild bolt on C6 Z to run.

It was from around 65 mph I believe. My brother was trying to give me a higher roll since I was extremely traction limited. Didn't seem to help.

It sounds like a pussycat lol. It has a straight through borla XR1 muffler so it makes some noise, but it idles smooth and sounds like any other non cammed V8. I'm sure that nobody would ever expect a 600+ HP turbo engine under the hood. My brother in his NA 5.3 3rd gen can't even here my car when he's following me until I get on it.

I still can't believe what a difference another 6 psi made! Thing totally transformed lol.

Nice car that runs great. I can't remember the last time I saw an even halfway decent shape third gen around here. Every one I see is on it's last legs.

Surprisingly, they are making a comeback around here. I know of a few people off the top of my head that I see all the time that have mint ones, and my brother's and another local guys both have LSx motors in them as well. But the more junkers there are, the more mine will be worth.

Car has a turbonetics T76 ball bearing turbo on it. And yes, car is only run on pump gas. It's got a bit more in it too, and 600+ rwhp should be easy to hit but it's going to stay at the power level it's at for this season, since it doesn't hook for **** anyways lol.

You plan on upping the boost next season or can your current fuel system run E85? I don't know how available it is in your area but would be nice to see it on some corn!!...lol

Nice race and glad to see your TA on the road again! Get some tires and go have some fun with some unsuspecting vehicles. Just make some videos to show everyone here.
