Default SS 1LE vs. GT Track Pack..."Ford gets its as* kicked"

Looks like GM closed the gap w/the 1LE.

They run identical times in 1/4 mile but 1LE ahead by 3 seconds on the track. However, I'm sure it's partly due to the better tires on the 1LE.


Would have been a better comparison with the Boss

that was actually an awesome video. I like seeing realistic tests like this. And id agree with all that what was said. One thing ive always said as well as why the boss is much faster around a track... is the motor. Having an extra 600rpm of power band plays a huge part. When the driver was saying about always having to reach for another gear. Im surprised the track pack on the GT doesnt give you a wider tire size.

And i actually like that 1le car. Look forward to the ls7 powerplant in it.

I posted this vid in another thread....of course excuses ensued.

I woulda liked to see it up against the Boss also. But considering the 1LE was only 1sec off a gt500 @ VIR then all the boss coulda done is close some of the gap.

I think in stock form the boss would beat the 1le on a track if both cars were on a competition tire. Both cars on street tires and im saying the 1le has it. The factory suspension that holds the solid axle in is the main problem the car has a lot of movement around the *** end. And on a street tire... it will cause it to over steer. With a competition tire... you can get the *** end to hook and really take advantage of the car given too you. The factory tires that come with these cars are just terrible. My car personally is leaps and bounds ahead of how the stock boss could handle... but ive replaced literally the entire suspension of the car.... so its no longer fair to compare...but still have the same shitty *** tires

I don't this so. The 1le is very controlled (hell even the standard SS is now with the fe4). The tires may allow the Boss to carry some extra speed but then the body movement will get even more exaggerated. The 1le still doesn't have a comp tire.

and i went for a ride in a stock boss after being used to mine... I take how well my car turns for granted... thing handled terribly

I have yet to ride in either. I drove my buddy's 12 SS with the fe4 suspension around for a few hours one day. It handled like a champ, it felt like the tires were giving up before the suspension. It would pick up a push(understeer) at it's limits.

yea the standard SS comes with the same garbo pirelli tires the boss does. Supposed to be a 220 treadwear and for a street tire, thats fairly low... like there performance

I don't think their a bad tire, every thing is gonna have it's limits. I would rather it be the tire than the car. There tire has less guess work in upgrading.....but damn tires are expensive anymore.

Anyone know where they time the 1/4 mile stats? It looks a lot like our horrible local track Fontana Speedway which has a DA of 2000-3000+

Hell the ZL1 kicked the GT500s *** by over 3 seconds! The GT500 was only .8 seconds faster than the 1LE!!!! That's pretty sad, seeing how ford put so much time and money into their supposedly "amazing" new 5.8L supercharged GT500 that was meant to beat the ZL1 and can barely beat the 1LE! Lmao! Supercharge that 1LE and see what happens! Bye bye GT500!

Its no surprise the 1LE kicked the gt *** around the track. B.ut, I think the 1LE did great 1/4 time too. The gearing, lighter wheels and tires did a great job. The 1LE is definitly a must have!!

It's funny because before the 1LE was released, everyone was bitching about how terrible and pointless it was going to be because it "was still too heavy".

Yeah idk if I'd spend the money on a 1le but I'd love to have a ZL1.

I'm a diehard Mustang guy and really think the Camaro is *** ugly. But the 1LE is a real performer on the road course with an awesome suspension. Some will say why not compare it to a Boss 302 or 302 LS but those are no longer made so this is what we get. The Boss 302 LS would be faster IMO, the Boss 302 would be as quick most likely. Either way the 1LE is the first of the current gen Camaro I would buy combine it with a ProCharger or Vortech setup and let her rip. Great test, real results the GT got smashed
