Default 02 Bolt on WS6 vs. 7.3 Powerstroke

Hi guys. My M6 Trans Am has about 96k on it. It has American Racing 1 3/4 Headers, no cats, and madhammer (GMMG) exhaust. It is otherwise stock, and has been laptop tuned. I have a guy hassling me about racing him at a 1/8th mile track in Huntsville. He has like a 2000 powerstroke dually with stock tires and a 7.3l. I am unsure of the exact mods, but I know it has a larger than stock turbo, and it has been tuned. It's also an automatic. He says it's real mean, and it would spank my ***. I am a fair driver, no pro by any means. I've only made one pass at a strip in my life. ( a ran a 9.2 @ 80.5 mph) but that was before the tune, and it was about 39 degrees out, no traction and i short shifted 1st.

Anyway, what do y'all think? Do you guys think I stand a chance?

Thanks,
Zack

It's a dually. Probably weights 8000+ lbs. I raced a buddies twin turbo cummins from a roll, walked him pretty good, before my cam. He's making 650hp and .... Oh idk... A million ftlbs lol

I agree shouldn't be a problem and helps that its two wheel drive. Just take him on ur gona win trust me. It takes them a lot of mods to get to where we r stock

I don't see you having much trouble with it. Run him and take his money. If you decide to do it post back when. I might come and watch. I'm not far from the track.

$500 to race slow cars lol?

I'd assume you'll beat him, but 1/8 isn't a lot of time to come around if he gets you on the hit.

If it happens I will have the vid posted definitely. I'm just afraid my stock master cylinder will get mad at me . Should I do a burn out?

If you are on street tires drive around the water box. Back into it then pull forward and turn them over a couple times to get dirt and stuff out. No need for a John Force burnout on street tires. Make sure you get your shifts down. I was at Huntsville's track this past Friday watching and there were a few M6 Camaros and Vettes running some pretty slow times on account of bad shifting.

Thanks for the tip 0silverado. I bet some of that bad shifting had to do with stock master cylinders

I used to race a guy with a 01 cummins auto 4x4 completely built, he would launch in 4wd, he'd brake boost it and it literally looked like a bulldog getting up on its haunches to bite someone. He'd always rape me on the 60 and 330 but I'd run him down, I was doing 8.4s to his 8.6.

Got a buddy with a duramax that was running bottom 8s @ high 8X MPH in Hville.. He wasn't crazy modded but more than the average truck. Huge *** 4 door 20" rims etc... He was running those times with a few issues. It is a mid-high 7 @ low 90mph now. Truck hauls ***.

I have searched for a good answer but I can't seem to find one, but what should my car do at this elevation in the 1/8th? when I ran 9.2 @ 80.5 I also had two passengers and I don't like to admit that cause that was retarded. Does anyone think a burnout plus shifting at WOT two times is possible on the stock master cylinder? I feel like i just got lucky the one time i made it down without a problem. It's usually really finicky

8.6s @ 86 or so at Hville depending on the DA.

Thanks Mr Lemons, and everyone else. Just ordered a Tick master cylinder so my shifting problems should be fixed for the race. I would like to apologize for not posting this thread in the bench racing section. But i will be back with a vid of this race lol

I have a few buddies with Duramaxs that run 12.0x-12.4x.. so to be honest i wouldnt be too cocky, if the guy is "dumb" enough to put $500 on it i would be VERY suspicious as to what is really done to the truck...
