Poll: take a local reporter with me to some races or not?
I met a reporter last winter when I caught an accident on video caused by a texting driver. Off the record we were talking about street racing and the show that was done on street racing a few years ago, that made all street racers look like young teenage thugs and car thieves (yet again, import scene). Now its late spring and he wants me to take him to a meet/race so he can do a story SUPPOSEDLY on the guys like us that are normal, career and family having respectable citizens who just happen to like to street race as much as legal drag racing. Also, all guys who show up will know ahead of time that a reporter will be there.
Problem is, I don't trust him to not sensationalize or misrepresent it. What do you guys think?

Yeah I know, I've seen so many times where reporters take **** and twist it up to meet whatever sensationist bullshit storyline they think will get the most attention. I'm a smart dude, and consider myself pretty news savvy but with enough footage any editor can cut n splice to get whatever outcome they want. However, the guys I run with vary from high level executives of local companies to high ranking enlisted army guys along with the normal 20+ yr old guys who are just into cars and prefer to hang out with us instead of the honda crowd. No racing through traffic, no donuts in intersections, no stolen vehicles, no crowds of spectators inches away from speeding cars.

Terrible idea .Even if he doesn't make you guy's look like some young punks it will still have no positive effect and it will expose you guy's and your race spot ,meet spot . What good can come from it ? You should ask your friends that are local and race too and see how fast they say no way !

News reporters came to our regular race spot. The race's still go on but there was nothing good that came out of it . It definitely shone light on plenty of people that would rather stay in the dark , performance shops ,racers , etc .

I vot a big NO! Let then keep thinking all street racers are punk high school kids with riced out civics and stolen parts, that's who they will keep lookin for then! You pull up to a stop light next to a cop, your cammed vette just choppin away, the cop will normally smile and thumbs up, do that in a fart can riced out **** box Honda and the cop will prolly be already runnin your plate lookin for a reason to pull you over. Keep the heat on them id say.
