Default ZL1 vs

ZL1: stock with rotofab CAI
GTO: 402ci, 3600 stall, 3.70 gears

Got a engineer coworker who got tired of hearing everyone in his shop talking up my GTO after I gave some of them test rides so he traded his SS in on a new ZL1 last month and today called me out at work.

Feeling pity on him, I let him have the hit both times and we went from his best roll speed around 25mph where I just left mine in 2nd gear and made my stall converter get in some work -he refused to dig race btw.

I don't know if he was using the no lift shift feature or just WOT speed shifting but he had trouble on both runs getting into 3rd. Second race I let him have a bigger jump then I should have but his slow shift to 3rd made up for it.

Good runs your GTO moves out. I think he needs a tune and pulley to outrun you.

So, you beat a poorly driven, 99% stock ZL1 by half a car. I thought that your goat would ''absolutely destroy'' a bolt-on C6?? I knew that you were up to your ears in dog ****. And that's pretty high if you're 6'6''.

Not sure how anyone can say that your car runs strong after watching that video either. That ZL1 probably runs 13's @ 110ish with that noob driving it.

I think the zl1 hung great with you up until the driver had to shift. With a good driver, i think that race will be a lot closer then you think

I would agree, still sad that a blown LS3 even stayed in the same Zip code as a NA GTO.

I think it would be damn close if it was an even hit and he could drive a little better. The second run it looked like he was starting to pull until he had to shift lol

Razor is right. Give that guy some seat time and your GTO will be seeing the taillights of a low 12 second underperforming disappointment.

There was no way a stock zl1 will beat me. period. I gave him the hit both times, second time I gave him extra time even. rolls from 20-25mph with me in SECOND GEAR. First gear would have yanked him. If his car was driven/shifted properly and we both launched same time I would still pull a couple cars on him no problem. Just not 4 cars like the first race.

Gotta love people hating on your GTO lol. Its ok for a ZL1 to get beat by a GT500. But its not ok for one to lose to a GTO?

Agreed, though I knew it was coming when I posted it on here. My goal was to try and keep it close so that when he does headers and tune and wants a rematch I should be able to still walk him from a even start in 1st gear. Once he pullies though I'm gonna have to think about my own next mod: bigger cam and FAST maybe.
