Default 2014 5.0 auto vs LS1 GTO manual

Raced my 2014 5.0(automatic, bone stock on 19s) vs a 2004 GTO manual with intake, exhaust, and tune in Mexico tonight. We went from a 40 roll to about 130.

Video is crappy(camera truck didn't hear the honks) so I'll give a play by play.

We both started in 2nd and I was pulling barely till I hit 3rd. He pulled enough to get like half a fender on me, then we stayed even till around 100ish I think. Then I pulled on him by about half a fender which is what I won by but I could tell he was coming back.

Any higher than 130 and he would've probably beat me

I honestly would have figured a stock 5.0 would walk away from a bolt on ls1 goat pretty easy. Sounds like a good run and nice kill!

You sure it wasn't a ls2 car? If not that is one strong running ls1 goat.

Good run. I too expected the mustang to win by a larger margin.

A bolt on ls2 should have no problem against a stock auto 5.0 from a roll.

Yeah I was expecting to have him by like a car and others were thinking like 3 cars. But it was close as hell

Nope it was ls1. The guy who tuned it wants me to run a ls2 gto he tuned, but I said no way

Being as I have owned an ls1gto, an ls2 Gto, and now an ls3 Gto, and actually raced a 12' 5.0 3:73 optioned m6 car, ill put in my .02. A full Bolton ls2 Gto will pull on a stock 5.0 pretty well. An ls1 Gto with fullboltons could go either way.

My best friends 05 m6 Gto was trapping the same as this 5.0 with nothing more than full exhaust and a vararam.

These 2 cars are close competitors from a roll mod for mod, but I would give the edge to the 5.0 from a dig.

You should be......it's the only n/a engine ford has produced worth a **** for 40yrs. Alot of them are faster than that over rated pos called a gt500. But if your not a fan of them it just shows how stupid you really are.

I guess it depends on where you live then. Here most basic bolton ls1 gtos have a tough time with bolton 2vs and 3vs. A good running bolton mach or 99/01 cobra would crush its soul. Hell we even have a Bolton b headed 4v going 12.3 @ 111.xx. I have never seen a fullweight ls1 gto come close to that locally.

I had a friend with a ls2 a4 goat ported mani, t/b, l/ts, exhaust, intake, tune, ~250lbs of weight reduction and it went 12.x @ 113.xx Another friends BONE stock auto 5.0 went 12.x @ 111 at the same track
