5.0 And yes, it IS a cool story… Dude. Ran up on a sharp looking 5.0 today. CRUSHED it…
Great guy tho'… We pulled over and shot the ****. LOL! He said when 'his car grows old, he wants it to be as bad *** as my car.'
I literally laughed my *** off. (It's still in the car… I forgot to bring it in.)
We shook hands on that one… and he said he'd try to make it out to the track. I hope he does… we need sharp, heads up kids like that to get into doin' it right.

It was a brand new stocker, little over a thousand miles, with a set of DRs.
We just showed up at the light coming off the interstate and I had the Valentine up and scanning, so we took it down the cross road for 3/8ths-ish of a mile to the light, pulled into the gas station and shot the **** for a few minutes.
No contest really, but the driver's a great kid with a sportsman's attitude.
No doubt that once the door gets its first ding and the rim is rubbed on the curb somewhere down the road, he'll begin the process and we'll see him out at the track, looking for some validation by that BITCH at the end of the line.

It's nice to run into a cool driver.
Those 5.0s are a nice package, just a few bolt ons and they are pretty nasty. Too bad its expensive as hell to get into "real" mods with them. I'd take a big cube SBC over a 5.0 any day...

Always good to meet a fellow traveler. In my experience, actual car guys are usually cool and easy. The trolls on this forum are not Car guys… they're people who want to be car guys and for whatever reason can't… so they envy car guys and as a result of their frustration tend to belittle that which otherwise escapes them.
My guess is that 'its not fair'. But, there's not much to be done about it, apparently.

LOL! Then I remembered I don't HAVE an AC and the T-tops were off, so I just nudged the go stick and eased it on out to five cars in 3/8ths. I expected that he would say he 'missed third' (most common), or that he couldn't hook. But he readily accepted the run, stating that he was all in, just got beat.
It's a brand new car tho' and in all fairness, with only a K on it, it's still got some loosening up to do. And I expect there's some bolt-ons that will help him.
All this guy said he had was the DRs.

I think those cars run mid 11's @ 124 mph with just DR's.
