Bolt on LS1 WS6 vs 2010 SS with intake
So contrary to my screen name, I'm actually the owner of the SS. Last I was on this site I did have a T/A though. Anyway enough formalities...
My car is a 6-speed SS with intake and some minor ecu (removed torque management, other small things) adjustments via hp tuners. I ran into this beautiful and amazing sounding black WS6 at a stoplight. Light turned green and we both took off a little harder the normal (gauging if each one us was going to punch it) and proceeded to get on it from there. We were literally nose to nose from the light to around 70 where we let off. This happened again at the next light with the same results... Nose to nose.
Got to the next light and we both complimented each other on the cars and I asked what he had done (i/e/h)
Overall my first run in again an f-body and I was quite happy with the outcome

I was a little disappointed with the pull down (under 3K rpms) low initially and really missed the torquey feel of my WS6 but after removing torque management and doing those previously mentioned little tweaks REALLY woke the car up.
I still miss my WS6 at times, especially the styling (still to me one of the best looking cars) but the SS is just a more complete car (and has a usable backseat for my new son). After having the SS now for over 6 months I must say I fell in love with it and have no intention of getting rid of her for anything else (other then maybe a 6th gen if I don't mod the crap out of her before they come out lol).

Thank you... and that is the plan.
My plan of attack is ported TB, LT's, cam, and of course a tune. Some supporting suspension mods to go along as well. That usually puts us around 450-470whp and I think I'd be pretty happy with that.

Agreed... very much so
What actually surprised me is when I found out he had fully bolt-ons that we were nose to nose. I was always under the assumption that stock vs stock these cars were a dead heat. I assumed a fully bolted LS1 vs my basically intake only SS would have been him pulling away.
For all I know the torque management in these cars really hampers them in stock condition...

the torque man. killes these cars . it really helps . but just like anything else they are strong and weak cars. but like u i have a 5th gen . got it modded out like i want . it does very well for what i want. 5th gens get a bad wrap . but with a lil want to they can be fast. i ran my fastest all motor pass yesterday. 11.4 with a 1.81 60'. cam and boltons only. car has alot of 60' left in it. they are fun all around cars tho.

60 ft was my issue too. Out here in Vegas we normally run about .4-.5 slower with 1-2mph less as well. First time at the track best I could do was a 2.3 60-ft and a 13.6@106. I figured out at sea level its a 13.2 @ 108.5. I know I can get the car to do LOW LOW 13's out here if I can get the launch down. Just a matter of practice. Sadly I only got 4 runs in last I went. Going again Friday so fingers crossed I can do better.
